no voice control in headset mic

We recently purchase a Kinect for the xbox 360 and now we can not get our wired headset to work, any suggestions? We have tried turning the Kinect off we have tried different headsets so we know it isn't the headset because nothing is working.

Headset: Can hear friends, but mic won't detect my voice. Tried 2 headsets. Kinect mic works!

Hello all,

I ran into this issue a couple of weeks ago. My mic stopped picking up my voice, but Xbox detected the mic and played back voice through the headset.

I tried the mic on two different controllers and it wouldn't work on either. Xbox detects the mic, but it won't record any voice. So I went out and bought a brand new $20 headset - NO LUCK. The new headset doesn't work on either controller. Once again, Xbox
detects the mic and I can hear my friends through the headset but the mic won't pickup my voice.

My privacy settings are fine and my Kinect mic works. What in the heck is going on here? This is driving me insane!

Kinect Voice Commands

Do you know if I am able to use a headset mic to control the voice recognition on the kinect instead of the built in microphone? I want to use voice recognition in a game and it would be more convenient to speak into the headset mic than to use the kinect
that is about 10 feet away from where I play. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I asked xbox customer service and they said that its impossible to do, but I recently saw a ive demo of Mass Effect 3 where someone was speaking into a headset mic while controlling
the voice recognition on the kinect.

Mic monitoring only let's you hear your voice through the headset. Do you perhaps have your voice to come through the tv as well? If not have you tried a different controller or headset?

You can actually control how much of your own voice you hear in your headset. Access your headset settings, Select Mic Monitoring, it's usually set to Medium, but you can adjust this to Low to reduce the amount of your own voice you hear, or to High to hear your voice more clearly. Turning mic monitoring Off eliminates your mic input from your headset audio.

You actually plug a mic cord from the tiny box (where the mute switch and volume controls are) into your controller like the wired mics that come with the console. The switch does mute the mic monitoring and your voice together, but If you want the monitoring
to be on while not transmitting your voice over live, you can just unplug the mic cord. All the cords come with the headset and they are all decent length (the headset cord itself is quite long, and I want to say the mic cord is a good foot or two) so even
though it is all wired it shouldn't get in the way.
