No Visible Game Updates With External HDD Plugged In

I have an external HDD (2TB Seagate Backup Plus) plugged into my Series X. It is full of games. When it is plugged in and I go to 'My Games & Apps' and then 'Manage Updates', it spins for a few minutes and shows no "updates currently available." It will do this whether I am going into the individual drives, or looking at everything combined. However, the minute I unplug the HDD, and go back to 'Manage Updates' it will show all available updates for the games currently on the internal drive. Has anyone encountered this problem and resolved it? Is there an alternative brand or type of HDD out there that we know works and will show all available updates? Do external SSDs work?

Currently, the only way for me to update games on my external is to manually load each game to check if it plays. The only way for me to check for updates on the internal is to unplug the HDD.

This also did not address my question at all. My issue is NOT that I cannot get optimized updates for games ony HDD.

The issue is that the system will not show me any available updates for EITHER the backwards compatible games on my HDD OR the updates for the Optimized games on my internal drive.

You have to.remember the patches you are looking for isn't meant for yoir HDD

THOSE ARE optimized smart delivery patches

There is only 1 solution on next gen consoles.And it isn't a external hdd external hdds will never match the performance needed for next gen games you are talking about performance difference in Spades not 100mhz

It is nvme or storage cards.

The only ones you will get is normal patches not performance onea

Smart delivery will onky download your patches for normal gaming.. In external drive

If that doesn't help, I'll recommend you do a power cycle to clear the system cache

- Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

- Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 2 minutes.

- Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on and check if it's all good.

If that doesn't help, I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

- Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

- Select Reset console.

- Choose Keep Games and Apps

Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. If the issue is with your console, that should fix it.
