No, that would not work as you cannot use the iMac itself as an external monitor. The iMacs only have external video output and no video input to use as a separate monitor.

As I mentioned in my initial response, it's not possible to use a laptop monitor as a display for your Xbox console because the HDMI ports on laptops are video output ports, not input ports. In order for the laptop to receive the video signal from your console, the ports would need to be video input ports, not output.

You'll need to use a TV or monitor separately in order to be able to use your Xbox console.

if you are trying to get the video/display from the Xbox console to show on your laptop (via HDMI cable), then that likely isn't possible as most laptops are not build to receive video signals from an external source. A laptop usually only outputs video signals to the display from the laptop itself or towards an external source like a TV or monitor

I know it may sound like a silly suggestion but have you deleted the cache on your xbox? It may be worth a try.. I'm wondering if it's worth completely powering down the 360 to try and force it back to default (though considering you've already tried that
for the display settings I'm not crazily confident that this will work..). The only other thing I can think of is to backup your saves (or remove your HDD) and possibly reset the console back to factory settings (using one of the other monitors) that might
reset the discovery settings.. I would be careful with that though. You'd have to reconfigure licences etc so maybe consider it as a last resort!
