  1. No video for DVD/Blu-ray playback

    Hello there,

I'm having trouble with the Blu-ray player app lately. DVDs & Blu-rays won't play correctly anymore, there's no video even though the discs load just fine, no problems with the audio, and weirdly, menus will still show up so I can navigate around the disc
just never seeing any video material.

My A/V setup is super simple, my Xbox is connected to my TV through HDMI and that's pretty much it.

This is a screenshot of the "menu" I'm seeing for the "Fight Club" blu-ray disc.

As you can see, the navigation part is there, I could start the movie or navigate to special features etc. but always end up with audio only, no video. The disc is "all regions" so that's not an issue either. Also I changed nothing about my A/V setup but
still movies that would play back without a problem have stopped working now, making me believe this to be a software problem.

Any help on this, or possibly anyone else having similar issues?

Thanks a lot in advance. No video for DVD/Blu-ray playback :)

    :)

Xbox One S - DVD & Blu-ray audio out of sync - DVD audio/video sync worse

UPDATE: Xbox One S returned. No solution for audio sync issue on DVD/Blu-ray playback.

After scouring the internet I cannot find a solution. The Xbox Support seems to be correct. There was an issue with the Xbox One S where the audio was not in sync with the video on DVD and Blu-ray playback. I returned the Xbox One S.

Hopefully few other experience the issue.

    Good Luck!

Xbox One: Blu-ray and DVD movies

I would check out the Xbox page for Blu-ray playback regarding regions. But yes, your Xbox One can certainly play DVD and Blu-ray movies.

    Hey there,

Sorry to hear the issue has persisted this long. Which troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Does this occur with all DVD & Blu-Ray movies you own, or is this happening with specific movies? In the meantime, let's cover these steps to see if that
    helps:

Give those steps a shot and let us know if it helps!

  6. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, this happens with ALL movies, both Blu-Ray and DVD.

Factory restore doesn't help either unfortunately, I tried that multiple times. (In fact I just did a full factory reset today, though that was unrelated to the Blu-Ray/DVD problems.)

I also played around with AV settings a lot (after the problem occured, to avoid confusion) - changing/disabling certain Hz settings etc. - to see if anything would help, but to no avail.

I now tried disabling BD live and clearing persistent storage. Didn't help. No video for DVD/Blu-ray playback :(

By now I'm actually pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Game discs (both One & 360), CDs work as they should.

Do you happen to have anything between the connection to the TV or the Xbox One console? Such as a A/V receiver or a game capture card? If you do, try removing that and plugging in your Xbox One to the TV directly. If possible, do you have another display
you can try with your Xbox One console? That will help us determine which side this issue is occurring on.

    Thanks!

  8. No video for DVD/Blu-ray playback

It never occured to me that the TV could be the troublemaker here, given that everything else on Xbox displays just fine.

I had a chance to test my Xbox on another TV the other day, and Blu-rays/DVDs worked without a problem there. I then tried hooking up an external Blu-ray player (which works on another TV) to the TV with the problems, and I didn't get any video from it either.
    So it's definitely the TV.

    Thanks again for your help!

Does it at least control blu-ray/dvd playback on the system?

DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

You seem to have taken this a little too personally Listed.

Besides you seem to have misunderstood the subject. The OP is not complaining that blu-ray playback is better than that of DVD. Rather that the One's DVD playback ability is not as good as standalone blu-ray players.

Anyone else notice a issue with DVD playback?

Eviltedi this is about DVD playback. I believe the 24hz setting is only for blu rays.

Mmmhmm very disappointed the remote doesn't allow pop up menu or menu.

These are ESSENTIAL buttons for DVD and Blu-Ray DVD playback.
