No valid payment option for purchasing 360 games on xbox.com

Hi guys,

I tried to purchase a backwards compatible 360 game on xbox.com marketplace for my xbox one use. However it showed "You have no valid payment option", and when I clicked "change payment method" it kept loading forever. I do have a US credit card and also
a paypal account attached to my ms account. Purchasing works well for xbox one games, just a problem of 360 games. I don't have a xbox 360.

Just chatted with ms support and was told at the moment i had to have a 360 in order to buy 360 games and they are trying to fix this. But it seems some people in this community did get their 360 games on xbox.com for xbox one, so i'm totally confused.

I'm wondering if it's a problem of account region. Under Billing Info it shows US-personal account. How do I check what my xbox live account region is? From the top post, it says "Your account region was set when you first created your Gamertag". I created
my gametag last year here in the US, but my hotmail.com email was created long ago outside the US.

Tried to migrate my xbox live account to the United States. Not succeeded. it showed "There’s a problem completing your move right now. Please check the
Region Change Support Page to make sure it will work for you, and try again later." No idea why so.

Maybe I'll try to create another account to check if it works. Any thoughts before that?

You have no valid payment options on file

Hi there,

I'm afraid that 360 content will require a valid payment option on your account (even for free content it is required) the only option that could work is to acquire the GwG 360 content via an actual Xbox 360 console on all other places, like xbox.com or
Xbox One console etc it will require a valid payment option like a credit card.

backwards compatible games

Hi,

Gold X360 backward compatible games will always show you a Buy This Game.

But, that's no problem, click on Buy This Game and you will see Free if your Gold Subscription is valid. You will also need a valid payment associated to your account.

Excerpt from the FAQ

"When I try to download a game from Xbox.com I get a message that says "You have no valid payment options on file." Will I be charged for the free Games with Gold?

You won’t be charged for the Games with Gold download. The Xbox.com Store requires a valid payment option to download Xbox 360 games. However, no charges will be made since Games with Gold is free to Xbox Live Gold members."

You need one xbox 360 purchase on your account from a xbox 360 in order to get free games

Only for the first free purchase best option borrow a friends console and make a purchase with your account t on that console or rent one from your friendly neighbourhood blockbuster and make one purchase

Thanks! That's what i'm thinking. i don't have any account or payment setup on a real 360, so that's why. i'll try to find a 360 nearby or just stick to physical copies.

Hi there,

be sure to check if you have a valid payment option set up on your account for the region your console is connected to (it is advised that this is the country you are located in)

For Xbox 360 content it is required that a valid payment option is present, even for free content if the purchase is made on a different device then the Xbox 360. The payment option won't be charged btw.

Please check or add a payment option via
http://account.microsoft.com and try to make the purchase for the free game again on either console or xbox.com

even though the Xbox 360 games are free, they will require a valid payment option to be present on the account when a free 360 is purchased via xbox.com or Xbox One console etc.

The payment option needs to match the account region too. I assume it's only meant for some verification, it will not be charged though.

Please check http://account.microsoft.com to see if a valid payment option is available on your account if none is available the only way you might be able to get this 360 game is via an Xbox 360 console.
