No type of controller works Xbox controller, remote smart glass

I'll share this... I did eventually manage to work-around my problem. What I did... Was...

1). Go into the desired game.

2). Use the pop-up keyboard when prompted by the game.

(I.e. Using the controller attempt to use a field requiring the keyboard.)

The Xbox one appears locked at this point. .

3). Go to the Xbox One Smart Glass and connect to the Xbox One.

(I used the iPad version for this.)

4). Use the Smart Glass remote control icon to pull up the Smart Glass controller.

(On iPad this is on the very bottom row... It should say it is connected to your game and in the right

have a small icon which looks like a tv remote control. Click that.)

5. Back on the Xbox One console. Using Kinect... Speak "Xbox Go Home".

(This took me out of the freeze / lockup).

6. Select your game again to re-enter it.

(Should not be locked up at this point.)

7. Perform the in-game action (ex: select text field that caused original freeze) again.

(Can use the controller for this.)

8. Type in the necessary text on the Smart Glass Application.

(Selecting the field/action in game should enable the keyboard to appear on the smart glass app.)

It would seem some of the steps are not necessary.... I.e. Why not just use smart glass to type in the field to begin with? But in my case at least... That simply didn't work.

Try doing a reset this way. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console. Once it
is back up and operational test for results.

I couldn't get the ISP provided remote to work with the Xbox one, however you can use the smart glass app on your phone to control not only the one guide but also the remote options like guide, volume etc....

When your console is on and you open smart glass, in the bottom right corner is a remote icon press that and you now have a remote to control the X1 home screen and menus and use as a keyboard.

Unfortunately there is nothing blocking it. My Uverse remote will control the XBox volume but not receiver. The following is a link to a similar situation: www.avsforum.com/.../xbox-one-snap-tv-game-volume-control-issues

Smart Glass and all of my other remotes control the receiver volume without issue. The only thing I can think of is a bad remote code but I cannot find the code for my receiver to manually input to Xbox.

At a lost and frustrated not being able to use my Uverse remote for volume.
