No Standby, Not Powering Down Help?

OK, so here's generally what I've been noticing going on lately with my Xbox One; I have it set with Instant-On, also to automatically turn off after 1 hr after inactivity. I'll be out for a walk sometimes for abut 15 minutes,
come back and not that my TV hasn't dimmed as it's supposed to which would indicate standby, sleep or whatever. Overnight, the 2nd part of my title is just as says, it's simply not turning off on its own after 1hr as I have it set to do. When I 1st got my
console over the mnths in the 1st year everything was great, and so far other than having to hardboot my console because game servers weren't coimng up or inactive headset issue it's been fine as well. Any idea what's going on or what I should do? Just recently
did a hard boot hoping something will change. In any case, leave me a relply back if you have any helpful info.

    :)

    Standby or off?

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering what everyone was doing with their Xbox One when powering down - are you leaving it on standby mode or powering down completely?

So far I have left mine in standby but it makes me nervous as the power brick is slightly warm and the fan is moving in it (you can hear it if you put your ear to it). I may be being paranoid, but I wondered if leaving it in standby is harmful for it in
the long run, if it may shorten the life of the system?

Anyways, just wanted to see what other people are doing. I may decide to power down completely, or at least if I know I wont be able to play for a long period.

    Thanks.

  3. Issues with starting my XBox One

I've had the same problem every now and then, turning it on from standby results in totally powering down (orange light on power brick) only happens occasionally, around the time a update is out for the Beta so i put it down to that.

    Standby or off?

In the power settings they list standby as "Instant On" and the fully powered down mode as "Energy Saver". Also if your console is in standby the power supply light is white, but if fully off it is orange.

Where to Plug in The Xbox One?

I got idea what they are thinking of. It could mess up XB1 standby option. For instance if you power down everything through power strip switch and thus lock XB1 into standby state.

XBOX One won't pass surround sound through HDMI Pass through..

Doesn't the xbox one stay in a sleep mode when powered down? Meaning low power standby? If my receiver can pass through the hdmi signal in standby why wouldn't the xbox do the same thing?

Can Kinect 2 be turned off?

    Just for reiterating purposes:
There are key differences between off, standby, & powered down.

    Off:

The term off is an incredibly generic term, which in regards to this argument simply means that a device is currently not functioning - it's a state of being in this case (the opposing state of being of course is that it is on, which simply means that the device
is functioning). An object that is on standby or powered down can both be considered in the state of being known as off.

    Standby:

The term standby simply is a specific state of not being functional until the device is turned on or reactivated, but the entire time regardless of whether it's on or off, it's still receiving power through electricity (usually through a battery or power cord)
or some other energy source (such as a fuel & a chemical reaction).

    Powered Down:

The term powered down is a specific state of not being functional until the device is turned on or reactivated, but it otherwise means the opposite of standby. If an object is powered down, it is not receiving any power & cannot be turned on, reactivated, or
used in any way until it begins to receive power through electricity (usually through a battery or power cord) or some other energy source (such as a fuel & a chemical reaction).

    An Example:

The lightswitch actually was a good example, because universally, it is either in the on or off position, but when you flip the switch to the off position to turn it off, it can also be considered on standby, since it would still receiving power through electricity.
If you were to deactivate that power source by flipping a switch at the breaker, the lightswitch would still be considered off, but would no longer be considered in standby because it would be considered to be in a powered down state instead.

The concept with the lightswitch is true for any electronic device. Assuming an electronic device (of any kind) is plugged into an outlet, it can be considered on or off, but when turned off, if it's still receiving power, it's effectively in standby mode.
However, if you unplug it or deactivate a primary or intermediary device such as the aforementioned breaker (primary) or perhaps even a surge protector (intermediary), the electronic device in question will definitely be off, but also in a state of being powered
    down.
Next Gen games downloads keep stopping when I turn off the console.

Xbox defaults to Energy saver mode. You will have to switch it to standby for downloads to continue while powered down
