No sound with HDMI cable to PC Monitor.

Right, I've been fine with an old tv for a long time. Picked up an HDMI cable when I replaced my computer (and it's monitor) with one that actualy ISN'T a CRT model. Maybe now, I can actually make text readabe. Sure enough, it works! Unfortunately, despite
my monitor having built in speaers designed to accept audio (near as I can tell, anyway) I receive no sound while the 360 is plugged into it through the hdmi cable.

How can I resolve this situation?

Monitor is ACER G237HL according to the sticker on the back. Onboard speakers are functional when plugged into computer, video is functional while plugged into 360, but no audio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Video problem with Xbox360 Slim

I have a rather unusual problem with my xbox connecting it to my monitor. I've used it without any problems for 2 weeks then suddenly one day the display went dark. The monitor has no problems with my pc and other consoles when it's connected with an hdmi
cable, but doesn't work with the xbox. So i thought my xbox was faulty and decided to try it on my led tv. With the same hdmi cable the problem was gone on my tv, but my monitor still didn't show any video. I tried different hdmi cables on the monitor but
with no luck. And it still had no problems with any other consoles or with my pc. I also tried a dvi to hdmi cable (not a dvi to hdmi adapter, the cable itself) and it showed video without a problem on my monitor. But because it's dvi it doesn't carry sound
so i can't use it.

So in short; My monitor has problem showing video with any hdmi cable connected to my xbox. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. I can't even figure out which equipment has the problem. Can anyone find a solution?

 

HDMI Problems with dual monitors.

Hi. I have a dual monitor setup with a PC plugged into it. On one monitor I connect the HDMI Xbox cable to the HDMI port on my monitor. How ever, whenever I switch to HDMI mode on that monitor it just says, "HDMI No Signal" please help!

 

Good Morning AuraoftheDawn! I'm sorry you are having issues with Audio with your Monitor. An HDMI cabe serves as Both Video & Audio, So no need for an Audio cable. Have you tried switching your speaker settings on your Monitor to HDMI out?

 

Wasn't able to find any sort of setting for that. Either it's automatic, or it won't do it. Is there an alternate way to get video from the monitor, and speakers from something else plugged into the 360 then?

 

Is there a VGA input on the back of your Monitor?

 

Is that the standard screw-in computer cable cord used for years to connect monitors to cpu towers? If so, yes. Otherwise, No. I have that, and the hdmi outlet.

Also, I'm an idiot for not doing my own research. I was informed there were onboard speakers, but upon further inspection, either they exist and are not picked up by my pc, or do not exist. What I though I was hearing was the cpu speaker on my pc tower,
right next to the monitor. Google seems to indicate this model (unlike what I was told) did NOT include said speakers. So I apologize for the trouble for nothing. Now I have to find some other way to shunt audio to a different device. So now I'm looking for
a way to use the monitor for video, and some other device for sound.

 

No worries, If your Monitor or tower has an AUX Jack you could try hooking External speakers up & using HDMI for Video.

 

I'm not sure what an 'aux' jack is. No idea if my tower has one. Safe bet the monitor doesn't, since there's a whopping 3 outlets on it, the one my pc uses, the hdmi outlet, and the power outlet.

What am I looking for on my pc tower?

Well, yeah. Got a set of 3 like that on the cpu tower, 1 for a mic and 2 for speakers. IT's what my current desktop speakers are plugged into. But how do I rig the 360 to send audio through that?

 

Do you have the white 360 or the Slim?

 

360 S according to the sticker on the back. Newer model, not the old originals. 4 GB internal HD Black case, not white.
