No sound when playing Blu rays on Xbox Series X

    Hi

Most of the time when I play blu rays on my Xbox Series X whether 4k or HD I don't get any sound.

I read a work around tip saying to hard reset the console and try booting the Blu ray app again - this works but seems to fail 4 times out of 5 and so is ridiculously inconvenient.

I have also tried re-installing the the Blu ray app which made no difference

I tried changing the sound output settings on the Xbox Series X - no difference

I tried changing the screen refresh to 60hz (I usually have it on 120 HZ) no difference.

I just play my sound out of my LG B9 so no extra sound equipment.

It is bad enough that the crappy Bluray app doesn't output Dolby Atmos for films but to not be able to output sound reliably fullstop is crazy for a 'next gen' console - where is the 'next gen' blu ray app - it can't be that hard to upgrade it.

Can anybody please help me with a fix for this and/or any sign of a Microsoft patch (I can't find anything on the list their list of issues)

    Cheers

    Ian

    :)

Xbox Seriex X - Atmos 7.1 Audio Clipping

    Same issue here.

I’ve got my Series X hooked up to a brand new LG C2 using the HDMI cord that came with the Series X.

I’ve got an Atmos-enabled Vizio sound bar (5.1 + two height speakers in the sound bar) hooked into the TV’s HDMI-Arc port.

I have no issues with Atmos sound when playing games on Series X. I have no issues when watching Atmos-compatible movies in streaming apps like Apple or Disney+.

But, when I play an Atmos-enabled 4K Blu-ray Disc on the Series X blu-ray app, I get this weird audio buffer after a few minutes. The movie may go 20 minutes without, but once is starts going it gets more consistent. This issue persists regardless of which Atmost-enabled 4K Blu-ray I use.

I’ve tried messing with the settings - switching back and forth on allowing pass through, etc.

Funny thing is, on my older TV (a TCL Series 6 which was not VRR or 120 hz compatible) I had zero issues. My Series X would play Atmos 4K blu-rays no problem. Only difference I can think of is that on my old setup I hooked the Series X directly into the input of the sound bar and then output from the sound bar into the TV (it was the only way I could get Atmos to work on the old TCL Series 6). On my current set up with the LG C2 I don’t do that because passing the Series X through the sound bar would take away the VRR and 120 hz capabilities my new TV can do.

    Can anyone help?

Certain Blu-rays crashing Xbox Series X

I’ve a similar issue and it is only with two BBC blu rays - wonders of the solar system and wonders of the universe.

No matter what I do, I can’t resolve it. The copyright warning comes up, the screen goes black, the sound gets corrupted and the series x just turns itself off.

Have cleared persistent storage, deleted and reinstalled the app etc.

Pretty disappointed with the build quality on my series x. I’d an original Xbox one and One x and they were great consoles for movie playback.

The series x sucks - a crazily noisy drive and it can’t even play some blu rays.

Why is the Blu-Ray Playback So Buggy On Series X?

Hello SonicXHero, My name is Khaji I am the independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Blu-ray playback on your Xbox Series X. I can offer some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure your Xbox Series X is running the latest system software. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address issues with Blu-ray playback.

    2. Some Blu-ray discs require firmware updates for proper playback. Check for any available updates on your console.

    3. On your Xbox Series X, navigate to Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Persistent Storage, and select "Clear Persistent Storage." This will clear any temporary data that might be affecting the playback.

    4. Go to Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Blu-ray > Persistent Storage, and select "Reset Blu-ray." This will reset the Blu-ray settings to their default values.

    5. If possible, try playing other Blu-ray discs to see if the issue is specific to certain movies or if it occurs with all discs. This can help determine if the problem is related to the console or the specific Blu-ray discs.

It's worth noting that occasionally, certain Blu-ray discs can have compatibility issues with specific players or consoles. If the problem persists with multiple copies of the same disc, it's possible that there may be an issue with the disc's encoding or compatibility with the Xbox Series X.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again.
