No sound when connecting the xbox to a monitor with external speakers

Our XBox One ist connected to a monitor with no speakers. So we tried to connect our normal Speakers tot he monitor but there is no sound no matter what we tried (many different settings...)

Where could be the problem? Why isn't it working?

Connecting Speakers to Xbox One

So I have a monitor that only has hdmi, vga and a power port, with no speakers. I would like to be able to use my Xbox One with this monitor but I want sound to come out of an external set of speakers. Is there any way I can directly connect an Xbox One
to a set of speakers, e.g. a Soundbar?

 

Connecting SPDIF (Optical cable) through PC SoundBlaster Z card

Hi

I had my sound running through my PC speakers by connecting the SBox ONE S through my soundcard with the Optical cable

Sound Card is Sound Blaster Z

PC configured to use Sound Blaster speakers as default

XBox is connected to Samsung 4K Monitor by HDMI

I dont know whether there was a console update etc but now I get no sound?

Can find no help online

So frustrating can anyone help

 

Hi, what type of cable are you using too connect the Xbox to the monitor ? Certain types of cables don't carry audio, more so if it's an HDMI to DVI cable.

 

I'm not sure, it's the original cable from the box, i think its a simple HDMI cable.

 

Hi, I would try connecting another device to the monitor to see if you get audio, if you do then check in the audio output section of the xbox settings that HDMI audio isn't turned off.

 

The speakers will need to be powered too, regular unpowered speakers won't work.

 

Hey, yes we tried with other devices and it worked, it also worked when we used an adapter from HDMI to VGA (i'm not sure how it's called in english^^) but we need this one somewhere else so we can't let it there and it is just strange that it doesn't works.

The settings are also on HDMI. And it is also working when we connect the speakers to the controller

 

In the audio output settings on the xbox do you have stereo uncompressed selected?
