No sound using VGA Xbox 360 cable for my old model Xbox 360 on new Smart LED-TV

    Hi guys,

Hope someone can help me with this. After trying lots of cables and combinations, I finally have visuals on my television using the Xbox 360 VGA Cable for my old model Xbox 360 (bought about 8 or 9 years ago and does not have a HDMI-opening) on my pretty
new Philips 40PFL5537 television (that does not have a SCART-opening).

But now I still don't have sound. I can not use the red and white audio-cable attached to the VGA cable, as the colour slots on my television are blue, yellow, green and black. I've tried all combinations, but no sound. What do I do??? Can I even ever get
sound using the combination of a really old model Xbox 360 on a new TV like this??

    Ryan

    :)

Connecting an XBox 360 to a Dell S2309W monitor

    Hi there,

since the monitor only has a vga (and DVI) input you will need to use a VGA cable. Depending on the Xbox 360 model type (Original or Slim) you can use the steps (and vga cable) shown on this link:

    support.xbox.com/.../connect-xbox-360-console-tv

When using VGA you will need to connect the audio cables to a device that is able to connect to the red/white cables for audio.

If it is an Xbox 360 E model, then it's a different story, since there are no supported VGA cables as far as I know, see this link:

    support.xbox.com/.../connect-xbox-360e-console-tv

    No HD anymore...

    Hi all,

Just hooked up a new 360 Slim using the HD VGA Adapter that I used on my old 360...I no longer seem to have the option for HD (the image no longer takes up the whole TV...it is an HD TV that has a VGA input on it)...there is also no switch on the connector
to switch it from TV to HD. It worked fine on my old Xbox....any ideas? If I don't have to buy and HDMI cable, i'd rather not....even though I know they are cheap.

    Thanks!

    no audio/sound using VGA cable

the cable has the red and white RCA audio cables and its the official MS vga cable. When i bought the xbox 360, the vga was included but it didnt included the adapter. BTW, when i attach the red and white rca cables to my TV's audio, there's was no sound.

what are the differences between xbox 360 4gb slim and 250 gb slim,

Ok, since there is only a HDMI output on the xbox 360 E console, you might want to consider trying to find the Slim console, since that will allow you to use the 'Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable' cable (support.xbox.com/.../connect-xbox-360-console-tv)
to connect the xbox 360 slim console to your monitor.

But you won't have any sound untill you have something that can output sound. Via either the red/white cables or the optical out on the console.
