  1. No sound through TV, thinks headset plugged in?

    Hi,

I just got my Xbox One S out of the cupboard after a 3 month break and I can't get any sound out of the TV.

Its HDMI cable from Xbox straight into the HDMI port of the TV. I've tried multiple cables and also using a different port. TV works fine with Sky Q box. I don't have Xbox linked to Sky Q box

On Display & Sound the website tells me there should be a 'TV connection' option but there isn't.

Under Audio Output All options are greyed out under Speaker Audio

Headset Audio shows Windows Sonic and the box under that is unchecked. There is also a message on this screen saying my TV connection is set to DVI and that I need an optical cable - but I can't find where to change this setting in any menu. I'm using HDMI

Driving me crazy so any suggestions welcome

    :)

No sound through TV, thinks headset plugged in?

    Hello ACTIVEplayz34!

Thanks for reaching out to Xbox forums support.

Do you have another Tv in your home that you can set the Xbox on to see if the problem follows you to your other Tv?

    Let us know.

If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
    reset
on your console by doing the following:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console. [KEEP MY GAMES AND APPS]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything and to save your games and apps; choose the latter.

    Hope this helps!

    Game audio through stereo headset?

I'm talking about plugging in any stereo headset (like earplugs) to listen to all game audio instead of outputting it through your TV. The Wii U does this with their GamePad (you can play in off TV mode and listen to the audio). The sound quality is awesome.
I've heard the PS4 will let you plug in a stereo headset and output all game audio (sounds, music) to the headset in 2.1 sound. Will the Xbox One allow the same thing?

How can I use surround sound headphones with my Xbox 360 S when the 360 is connected to the monitor via HDMI?

This will depend on the Make/Model of your Headphones. Most Headsets (such as Turtle Beach) include a cord that you plug in to the TV and plug the sound composite/component cables into the back of them that streams the sound. These styles of headsets also
have a headphone jack (3.5 mm) that can be plugged directly into most TVs directly as long as the have a 3.5 mm port for headphones. This will give you the same surround sound quality as the other method. If the sound does not come through as surround sound,
check your TV settings. Some TVs have separate sound settings for using headphones, and it may need to be adjusted to allow Stereo Surround sound.

Unable to use chat headset and HDMI surround sound on OneX and SeriesX

Thank you. And to be clear so that I can make sure I am understanding correctly, the behavior you're expecting is that when plugging in a mono headset it is for not just chat but to pass game and chat audio to the headset? or is the mono headset only meant to pass chat while the surround sound system continues to cast game and console audio and is switching the TV/Surround sound audio from its settings? Thus when unplugging the surround sound system works as intended but does not work as intended when a mono headset is plugged in.

With the sony headset are you trying to pass all sound through the headset? or through the headset and the surround sound system?

    Thanks,

    John

I need some help with my setup.

    Thanks for the reply.

I do already own a HDMI cable which i was using before i got the capture device but the unit does not support HDMI so i have to use the component cable.

My TV supports HDMI, component connection, headphone jack and left/right audio output and i have an option in the TV menu to switch between using normal TV sound or external speaker sound.

The main thing i was worried about was the sound not being able to play through the speakers/tv when the headset is plugged in but i think i found that having the headset plugged in the component or audio out does not actually cut of the original sound as
it just acts as a passthrough so you can actually have sound playing through both at the same time, which is mainly what i needed to know because i didn't want to keep taking the cables out everytime i wasn't using the headset, but i'm pretty sure it should
just play out both sources and when i want to use the headset i can just switch the tv sound mode to external or just mute the tv sound.

As far as i know, plugging something into the headphone jack on the tv cuts off sound from all other sources completely, but as long as i use the component "piggyback" connectors or audio out it should just act as a audio passthrough.
