    No Sound - Just video on HDMI


    I hooked up my Xbox to my receiver using HDMI cable, I also have the S/PDIF cable going from the Xbox to my receiver, then I have a HDMI cable going from OUT on my receiver to tv.

    I'm using

    - Xbox one S

    - Yamaha Natural Sound AV Reciever HTR-6050

    - Westinghouse 1080p HD TV.

    I'm only getting a little bit of sound from my subwoofer and nothing else, picture is great though.

    No Audio when using HDMI (Just Recently)

    I just bought my XBOX S about 3 weeks ago. Since its been out of the box it has been hooked up to my TV through an HDMI cord. Audio and Video worked great. Just yesterday I turned it on and no sound was present. The Video is fine. Just no sound. No
    settings have been changed, on the TV, sound system or XBOX, and even tried it on another TV in my house and it also has no sound.

    Yes. Sorry if it seems confusing.

    I normally have it connected to my monitor through and HDMI to DVI cable, but for whatever reason, it stopped showing video. I can still get sound through my sound system, just no video on the monitor.

    Great video, no sound HDMI

    Are you using extra Cables to make the sound work or just the HDMI cable because you should only be using the HDMI cable as the sound runs through that aswell as video (just making sure).

    New Xbox user- No sound output through HDMI Cable.

    I just ran into the same exact problem you did, i've been using a VGA adapter and head set, the other day i plugged it into another TV to have no sound or video at all. So i reset the video settings and finally got the video working, but now there's no
    sound. I've checked the TV and Xbox setting and their all set how they should be, but still no sound from the HDMI cable. I've also used the standard component cables and got sound using them, just not through the HDMI cable.

    I am using the xbox one. and using the DVR built in to it, and using a HDMI cord that works fine being that it plays video and sound just fine. just the recording doesn't give sound

    Found this:

    1. Update firmwares for TV, XB1S & Sound bar.
    2. XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) goes to Sound bar HDMI IN. (DOES NOT GO TO TV)
    3. Sound bar HDMI ARC OUT goes to TV HDMI ARC.
    4. TV AUDIO set to PCM. TV VIDEO set to ARC.
    5. Sound bar audio set to HDMI IN. (NOT HDMI ARC)
    6. XB1S Video set to 4K UHD.
    7. XB1S Audio set to ATMOS.
    *Most importantly, XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) DOES NOT GO TO TV, BUT GOES TO Sound bar IN! XB1S HDMI IN Should NOT BE USED!
