no sound in XBOX video captures on PC or laptop windows 10 (up to date)

never used to be a problem until a few months ago - thought it was a problem with windows 10 updates but still cannot hear sound - video is fine.

I use it for recording golf video (a lot of them on youtube).

Think I have tried most of the sound fixes suggested - reinstalling drivers checking XBOX settings etc.

A solution would be much appreciated

I'm not sure if you tried this already, but I sometimes run into an issue where the game I'm playing is outputting audio to one device (speakers, headphones, etc.) while the recording program is looking for audio sent to a different source. This would
lead to your video captures coming out silent without creating any error messages. Are you using Game Bar on Windows 10 to record?

thanks Doug but I am not doing anything else when I am trying to record video with sound - odd that this problem occurs both on my PC and laptop

There are no Video or Sound capture devices available on your laptop.

You might have disabled them in Windows -> Settings -> Privacy or uninstalled their drivers.

The Registry keys look like something from a virtual video capture device, as e.g. audio/video cable, OBS or similar. Nothing, however, is shown in the diagnostics file, so the device was removed without Registry being cleared.

Microsoft Updates CAN stuff up hardware and software programs you use. Fact. It stuffs up Hauppauge Capture (popular software used for recording video gaming videos to share on YouTube). I use the Xbox App too, and have a laptop and custom desktop gaming
PC both use Windows 10. They also have Xbox Smartglass on Android and Apple phones. Or do you have a Nokia Windows 10 phone? Make sure the device you're Xbox app is on, and your console, are connected to the same home network you use. Make sure all devices
have the latest software update. If it fails, for official support, contact Xbox Support.

All Windows 10 PCs should be able to capture screenshots in games, no matter what video card you have. To capture game clips, however, your PC’s video card must support one of these encoders:

Intel Quick Sync H.264
NVidia NVENC
AMD VCE

Video cards that support NVidia NVENC include:

Most GeForce 600 series or later
Most Quadro K series or later
