No sound in xbox 1 controller headphone jack.

I've been having this issue recurrently since last year, and I've seen it gets asked by a lot of customers without resolution.

After an update last year, I've been recurrently losing sound in my xbox one controller via the heaphone jack.

It is not a problem with the headset as it works in other controllers and on pc and all other devices. It is not a hardware problem as updating the firmware fixes the issue until it arises again. This has happened with both my controllers, the first one
that came with the console that I thought was damaged, and the replacement I bought under that assumption.

The controllers will both lose sound and will regain it back after I update the firmware. Problem is they are now at the latest firmware and there is no option to reset or force the update, which has left my without the replacement controller.

The same controller works with the xbox app in the pc with the same headset, and all other headsets in my household. I hope you please don't ask me the model as it is irrelevant, and I've seen in horror how you keep asking other customers for it. If you
can't fix this software problem can you at least tell me the steps so you honor warranty and send me a proper replacement?

Are you able to check if it works with an audio puck in between the headset and controller?

Hi, thanks for the effort, but as seeing as how this is clearly a software issue I don't see how an audio puck would work.

This has something to do with the bluetooth connection I believe.

Sound on the controller works when connected to the computer with usb and streaming from the xbox. It won't work however when connected over BT to the pc and streaming from the xbox, nor with the controller connected via USB to the xbox.

The hardware of the controller is fine as I'm able to use it on my PC, and then there is the fact that this is not the first time this happens. I think Microsoft should be obligated to replace these until they fix this obvious software related error, I've
seen dozens of threads already with people complaining about this since 2018 and all it does is make me think buying a ps5 instead of a series x. Bummer.

hi federico i had same problem on 2 xbox one controllers no sound coming through headsets.go into audio settings and find headphone chat mix sliderif not there its a problem with the headphone jack port.i sent 2 controllers back 2 microsoft for exchange
because of this fault with the jack port. hope this helps.

Sounds like the headphone jack in the controller may have failed. Make sure the controller is fully updated with the headphone attached. You should also make sure you have good batteries in the controller.

The Mic will always go thru the controller unless its a wireless from Microsoft.

The Adapter will have you use the White/Red sound jacks and have them go into 1 green speaker headphone jack.
