No sound from 360

I have had my 360 connected to a monitor via VGA for some time but I have connected it to my TV via HDMI on various occasions with no issue. I recently moved and had my x360 unplugged and instead tried to connect it to my tv. I got the start up sound but
the dashboard and games would have no sound at all.

I have tried using the VGA cable, the component cables, the HDMI cable from my Xbox One, disabled auto detect settings and even using another TV in the house all to no effect.

Are there any other solutions or answers to this or has ny 360 just become redundant?

Try disabling Display Discovery under Console Settings...

You can also try resetting the console's video display to defaults by powering off your console and holding the left quadrant of the power button until it turns on...

So then, was working fine one day, then not the next ?

Last night I unplugged my slim to plug in my old arcade to wide the HDD before giving it away as the laser has failed and a friend is going to resurrect it... anyway.

Quickly found power cable are not the same and the old arcade doesn't have HDMI, so rooted aorund for old power cables and video cable and the arcade was sorted.

However, now the slim won't work.

All plugged back together and not working.

When switched on it boots and goes to the normal single green quadrant that indicates it has booted but getting nothing on the TV. Tried an alternative HDMI cable and still nothing. Also getting no sound.

Have tried bypassing the surround sound amp with a HDMI lead direct to the TV and still no sound or video, same result as before.

Dig the component lead out of the back of a cupboard and plug that into the surround sound amp and get sound, but no video.

So get an alternative TV and plug in using the component lead and the scart converter, and everything works fine (sound and video). Still using alternate TV, then plug in with HDMI, and get video, but no sound. Try alternative HDMI cable and still no sound.

Revert back to orginal TV and surround sound amp, and back to nothing TV behaves as though it has received a connection, but does not indicate the signal mode, and there is no sound, but the xbox appears to have booted (based upon the light cycle from the
green ring.

What's going on ? Dead TV, dead xbox, dead amp, all or some ?

 

I forgot to mention I have also tried to connect my 360 into the back of the One and play it through the TV app and that still didnt work.

The only thing I can think of is in between 2 days of it being unplugged sat on the floor in my room some hardware inside broke and now its finished.

 

Try settings>system>Console settings>display settings>discovery> then disable.

Reboot system and see if it helped.

 

I tried that and mentioned it already ("disabled auto detect settings") and it didnt make any difference.

 

I left it for a while and came back to it and it all works fine now. Not sure how but consider this resolved.
