No sound coming through my headset but the sound plays if i plug it into my laptop

The only way to get sound from the headset on your controller on PC is if the controller is connected via USB. It doesn't work if you're connected wirelessly.

None of those troubleshooting steps are appropriate to my situation. As evident from the fact that sound plays out of other connected listening devices, there is no issue in my sound settings; and I cannot change the volume or similar, as the device and
accessory settings are not acknowledging that there is a headset connected (and there is sound when connected to other headsets). I am aware that this option appears below "buzz" in the device and accessory settings.

It is not that the mic is not recording, or that sound is not coming through the headset, it is that the controller won't recognise that there is anything plugged in when combined with my headset (even though it can recognise other devices, and the headset
is working).

I just got these in April and the sound coming out is garbled. This happens regardless if the mic is on or not. I have found that if I turn off the headset the sound goes to my laptop and the sound is fine. If I turn the headset back on the sound is fine, but the problem comes back 5-10 minutes later. I hate having to turn off and on my headset during meetings. What can fix this issue?

I have the AX360 from way back and I have two headsets for it and it's dolby decoder allows you to plug in two headsets. Playing splitscreen was incredibly annoying with both players sounds coming through. Just made positional audio effects confusing. Setting
the 360 to output stereo only on my surround sound was a lot more manageable.

I want chat only through the headset from teammates and game sounds coming through my surround sound system.
