    No sound coming from Xbox one controller when connected to headphones


    Controller is only about 3 months old, and I hear absolutely nothing but the initial static of the wired headphones showing that they are connected. Tried them with an older controller and it works fine.

    Already tried updating the controller and reconnecting it to my Xbox one S. Tried messing with some audio settings but I don’t think that would matter. Really don’t wanna buy a new one again.

    No sound

    I read on a different thread, that the crossed out microphone is a known issue for a few consoles out there.

    They recommend you
    contact the official support     for further troubleshooting on that issue. Depending on who you reach, you might have to try several people until you get one that has been properly trained on that issue.

    If possible, can you try to connect a headphone (just normal stereo headphones from your MP3 player or something like that) to the Xbox controller and enable sound output through your controller?

    That way you can check if it's a hardware issue, where the sound fails through the HDMI port, but is properly generated by the Xbox
    (i.e. if the sound is properly coming out of the headphones connected to the controller), or if it's a sound software issue that affects the whole sound system of the console (if the sound does not come out of your headphones).

    The sound should come from the headphones when plugged into the controller. There isn't anything special that you have to do.

    Just to clarify, are you trying to get sound via the Xbox One controller's headphone port?

    I have the same setup as you (X360 hooked into X1 via HDMI-in) and I get all Xbox 360 sounds going into my headphones (when connected to X1 controller).

    How are your audio settings configured for both your Xbox One and Xbox 360?

    Thanks for reaching out to us! So, the second headphones being used cause the screen to flicker when plugged into the controller? I do have a few questions:

    • Is it the whole screen that flickers when the headphones are plugged in?
    • What type of headphones are being used?
    • Is there any sound at least when the second headphones are plugged in?

    if you are using a controller with a cord attached either charging it or connecting it wired to the xbox then it could be the extra power coming through the headphone jack on the controller causing the sound so use a completely wireless controller to
    test.
