    Hi all

    WE have an Xbox One - it has been working fine up until a couple of days ago.

    Turn TV on, has sounds - can watch tv prefectly, turn xbox on, we have no sound - only sound comes in through the headset.

    I have checked aduio settings on the xbox, change HDMI cords, changed ports, turned it off and on, as well as the TV, but nothing seems to work.

    Is there something that i have missed - no settings have been changed so im not sure why this has suddenly happened

    Ya I'm having the same problem followed all the troubleshooting tips yet still having the same problem hmdi sound is set to off and everytime I try to change it it says you cant have both off at the same time.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select Display & sound.
    5. Select Video output.
    6. Select TV connection.
    7. If TV connection is set to "DVI," you'll need an optical audio cable for sound. If you're using an HDMI cable, switch your TV connection to "Auto-detect."

      Note If your screen goes dark after you select HDMI or DVI and the screen doesn't reset after 30 seconds, see Troubleshooting
      a blank TV or monitor while your Xbox One is on      .
    8. Back out of Video output by pressing B .
    9. Select Audio output.
    10. Verify that HDMI audio is not set to “Off” (or dimmed) if this doesn't work so your gonna have to buy a new HDMI cable

    Hey there Kristy,

    Sorry to hear you are running into these problems. I would recommend taking a look at the No Sound support article to troubleshoot a bit with the console. If you have already tried this and the issue persists then go ahead and try to perform a

    Factory Reset while Keeping Games & apps    . Just make sure that you have your account information as this does remove all accounts and you would simply have to Add them back to the console.

    Give this a try and let us know of any changes.

    It's definitely a muffled noise, I compare the sounds coming from the headset to the sounds coming straight through my TV. The TV sound quality is very crisp and clear, while the headset quality seems to be far away, muffled and sometimes distorted.
