No sound coming from my TV when Xbox One X is on

Thanks aka Scratch. I actually ended up resetting my Roku TV to factory then went through the whole setup and made sure to identify the Xbox was in on of the ports. I now have sound through the tv. Thanks again

you should check in settings if you chose the right audio output (no external speakers if you dont have any plugged in)

is the sound from the tv working fine when watching tv for example?

Try another hdmi port on your tv or change the hdmi cable once if you have a second one.

i heard from another roku tv user they had a nonfunctional hdmi port

1. Connect the HDMI cable and check your TV's audio options to see if it matches your Xbox audio settings.
2. Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.
3. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options.
4. Select Video fidelity & overscan.
5. Under Display, select HDMI.

See if it works in a different HDMI port could help.

Make sure the HDMI port on the TV isnt DVI. Otherwise sounds only comes out the optical port.

Also verify the audio settings on the Xbox. Below os the general step but there are a few options there.

Also do you have headphones and do they workat all?

4. Under Display, select HDMI.

Another thing to check if you have not already is head the SETTINGS>DISPLAY&SOUND>AUDIO OUTPUT.

Under the Speaker Audio make sure that HDMI Audio is picked.
