    No sound coming from console - using HDMI cables


    Have no sound - came back from week away and when I went to play it, had to reset all my video settings but have been unable to get any audio back - have tried all the settings on the console as well as different cables, inputs, etc. It was plugged into
    a switch - 4 HDMI to one tv (tv only has 2 HDMI inputs) but all the other systems plugged into the switch have both sound & video (course it seems my ps3 has died at about the same time). Have read a few of the other posts that have mentioned something close
    to the same, but didn't notice any solutions in them. Thanks

    Surround sound DD 5.1 not working on xbox

    I have no sound coming through the back speakers on my logitech surround sound system. It works fine when i use the test button or use my PS3. I have the 5.1 selected in the console settings but still no sound.

    If anyone has a solution i would be very grateful.

    I'm using a hdmi cable from my xbox to tv and a optical cable from xbox to surround sound system.

    No sound using HDMI cable

    I've tried plugging in my HDMI cable to get a better picture but now there's no sound at all? I'll tried using all of the HDMI ports and changing the audio settings on the xbox and using a different tv.

    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hey mate, a lot of the time there is no real solution and it's the product itself which has failed.

    So have you used a different TV at all? You've definitely done the right thing trying different cables and inputs as you won't to try and narrow this issues to the cable, TV or Xbox.

    If the Xbox is acting the same way on different cables, TV's and inputs (make sure you definitely try it without the switch) then I would say the Xbox needs a repair.

    HDMI Audio & Optical Audio

    Both the HDMI Audio and Optical Audio is set to "Stereo Uncompressed" in my XBOX Settings Menu.

    Yes, I have tried connecting the Sound Bar to my TV. I don't have an Optical Input on my TV, so I used the Red / White RCA cables. The Sound Bar does not work from the TV - because it is not on the same HDMI input.

    (I have 7 inputs on my TV: XBOX One is on Input 7, and my cable box is on Input 8. The RCA Inputs are on Input 4.) When I connect the Red / White RCA cables to my cable box though, the Sound Bar works perfectly.

    This is what is confusing. HDMI sound and RCA sound is coming fine from the cable box. But, only HDMI sound is coming from the XBOX One. The Sound Bar is silent.

    If you wanted to split the audio and video up. I'm asking if the hdmi cable comes with the small audio cable so I can use pc speakers for sound and the hdmi cable for picture.

    I have had this happen to me. At first I swapped the cable to another HDMI port on my tv and that seemed to work. It would keep happening and eventually I ran out of ports on my tv, only 3. So when the 3rd went "bad" I tried the first one again, and it worked.
    This meant it wasn't the tv. Praying it wasn't the console, I tried a new $6 HDMI cable from Fry's Electronics and never had an issue. That would be what i would suggest. Trying a cheapy cable won't hurt anything.
