    No sound and poor picture


    There is no sound coming out of the TV and the picture is slightly fuzzier (like it's an improper resolution setting). Nothing, as far as I know, has changed from yesterday. It's hooked up to an HDTV that is displaying things properly from the coax. It's
    hooked up via HDMI. Everything loads properly, it just looks a little off and there's no sound.

    Hey Carnage, First off I am sorry to hear you are having a video issue with your Xbox, but if you could try the below steps first and see if they work that would be great..

    • Turn off the console (connect all HDMI wires)
    • Turn the console back on using the controller
    • While the console is starting up, hold down "Y" and "RT" (Right Trigger) until the console restarts.
    • This will reset the audio/video settings in the console, hopefully this works.

    i assumed that at first my HDMI cable went out but then i plugged in my regular AV cables and its doing the same thing. At first the picture is clear then it got real dim then I got black screen. is my NEW Xbox damaged some how in less then a year? can some
    please help thanx in advance.

    Hi Boozor,

    You'd probably want to contact XBOX Support as without any way of being able to put in a hard drive or even a secondary storage device (USB Flash Drive) I believe there's something wrong with your console and it would need to be repaired.

    A repair can be started by going here.

    Actually, I did take out the hard drive and the 8 gig memory stick, and I now have picture!! However, plugging either of those in denies me picture. Any tips on that problem, anyone?

    Picture but no sound

    Thank you, I have tried two cables in all three ports on my TV. I removed the other devices plugged into my TV unplugged everything. Just can't work it out.

    The xbox is less than a year old, so I'm rather cheesed off!
