No so7nd through headset

I have a new Turtlebeach headset when I plug it in to my wireless controller the sound is stoll via the TV and not the headset

Like I said before, I had this problem, and while troubleshooting, somehow both my controllers stopped working too. (When I would turn them on, the light would blink like it's trying to connect, then it would go solid as if it had successfully connected,
but then none of the buttons would actually do anything.)

When I was trying to get my controllers to work again, I tried turning the Xbox off and back on by pressing the button on the front of the Xbox. A friend of mine pointed out that if you press and hold the button for 5 seconds, it really turns it off, if
you just press and let go, it basically just puts it to sleep. The 5 second hold got my controllers working again, I'm hoping it fixed the headset too, although I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

I had the exact same problem. At first I thought the mic was working, but later realized that my friend was hearing me through the Kinect's microphone. I tried switching the headset to my second controller, but then at some point both my controllers stopped
working too.

 

Make sure you update the controller with the headset attached. If that doesn't work try a different controller. FYI, the sound still comes out the TV speakers too.

Same issue. I feel as if it is the 3.5 jack in the controller. I have this issue with both controllers. 1 being 9 months old and the other being 7 weeks old. When it happened to my first controller i bought a new headset after performing all of the trouble
shooting steps, just to find it did not fix it. So bought a new controller. Lasted 7 weeks same problem. Not sure i want to keep replacing controllers a 60 bucks a pop. I think i may just let Microsoft keep their product. No more live, no more new games, no
more support from me. If i replace another controller i could have bought a ps4 with the money i have spent on this issue. Good luck man.
