No signal issue after using remote play

Thanks for the direction. As mentioned in the OP, I pretty much did all of that. As for software updates, as the OP says, I have no visual access to any menus because, no signal. I left it unplugged for a few hours and now it shuts down after about a minute. It's only 5 months old. Shipping back to MS for service. That said, I'm really bummed that this happened, and apparently happens often.

To future readers, do all the stuff you see online and on YouTube, but be prepared to warranty it and send it back. I'll be super bummed if any data is lost. It's an S so I'm assuming that so much of it is cloud-based and my saves theoretically should be there. I acknowledge that my privilege allows me to have this be my biggest issue at the moment, but I also validate that I'm bummed that the vacation I had planned (hours of Skyrim) is down the drain.

It's unlikely that using remote play would have broken your console. Here are a few things you can try:

Check the HDMI cable: Make sure that the HDMI cable is properly connected to both the Xbox and the TV. Try a different HDMI cable if possible.

Check the TV input: Make sure that the TV is set to the correct input for the Xbox.

Try a hard reset: Unplug the power cable from both the Xbox and the wall outlet, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in.

Check for software updates: Make sure that your Xbox is up to date with the latest software updates.

If none of these solutions work, you may need to contact Xbox support or consider having the console serviced.

This is definitely an issue with the Xbox One, not any STB hardware or remotes. Everything was working fine before the update. Tried watching TV 30 minutes after update, and none of the media controls on my remote work anymore.

When I press play/ff/rewind on the remote, the Xbox One OSD highlights the button I pressed, but my STB never receives an IR signal. If I use the controller to perform the same actions, it works fine. I've tried this with 3 different universal remotes, all
of them exhibit the same issue.

This needs a patch ASAP.

So here is the newest update. I tested the theory that the Kinect signal is interfering with the remote signal. I did this by sitting on my couch where I typically sit and held a piece of paper so that it blocks direct line of sight between the kinect and
the remote's IR sensor but not blocking the remote's line of sight from the console. The remote works perfectly in that situation. I am no microsoft engineer but that all but proves to me that somehow the Kinect IR blaster's signal is somehow interfering with
the remotes IR signal. I do not know the specifics of these two devices to know how that happens but it is happening. I also tried moving the Kinect below my tv instead of above and the remote still does not work with blocking the Kinect signal somehow. I
am left to hope that the update that I was told about corrects this issue so that I can use my remote the way it is designed to work.

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using
