No refresh rate option on series X

I have been looking for a while but I am still not sure how to get 120 hz to work on my Samsung TU8000. I know it supports 120 and is USB 2.1. There is no option for me to set refresh rate and it says I cannot run 120 hz under 4k tv details. I saw something about changing display overrides which let's you select refresh rate, but that pops a warning saying some things may not be available.

    :)

that tv has 3 x hdmi 2.1 ports, i don't think he was meant to say usb but hdmi. the spec sheet shows 3 x hdmi 2.1.

But the tv only has the marketing gimmick of fake 120hz smoothing. not true 120hz and does not have VRR either.

Do you have a good link confirming this. Because on the product page I bought it from it specifically said 120hz, but I am thinking it is just some kind of upscaling or whatnot.
Samsung store on Amazon UK, shows the TV as 4K 60Hz and it does not have HDMI 2.1.

Hi! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

If you are sure that your display supports 120hz you could use the override option and change the settings manually to configure properly the resolution and refresh rate

Sometimes the console won't show the refresh rate option if the settings are not properly set, for example your display could support 120 Hz at 8 bits and you have it at 10 bits, or you are trying to use it on 4k, but currently most displays only support that refresh rate on 1440p maximum

Another thing could be that your display has multiple HDMI or 1 HDMI and 1 display port, and only the display port supports 120 Hz, this one you need to confirm it with the manufacturer

While the specs on this TV can be quite confusing, the biggest thing that gives this TV away as not being full 120Hz is the price. £599 might seem like a lot for a TV, but for a 55" this is budget territory. One of Samsung's current flagship QLED TV's the QN95A @ 55" is around £1,200.

It's as ROBIN H25 and Farscape247 have already stated it's a marketing gimmick. The 120Hz feature on this TV is internal interpolation only, controlled by software. It's designed to attempt to smooth out frames on fast action sequences on TV broadcasts or movies, it's not designed for gaming.

Your TV can't select 120Hz as an option because it's not a 120Hz TV.
