No option to take a screenshot

So I'm aware you double tap the Xbox home button and then it gives you the option to either press X or Y. It's not giving me this option. I've noticed other people have had this problem, and the solution is usually found my going to preferences and making
sure something is disabled under the Game DVR option. However, everything is checked and yet, it still won't let me take screenshots or videos. Please let me know if you know of a solution.

You have to be in a game to take a screen shot at the moment,

 

I looked at my own settings and all my Game DVR options are checked/enabled.

What are you trying to take a screenshot/video of? The X/Y button options should show up only when you're actively playing a game. It won't appear if you're browsing the Xbox One interface or using other apps.

One more thing, how's your storage space on your Xbox? If it's getting full, I'm pretty sure the system might disable Game DVR until you free up some space.

Even when I'm actively playing a game, the X/Y option will not show up. As for the storage, it's pretty full but not to the extreme. I think I still have around 20 GB of space.
