    No Notifications on Xbox App

I've suddenly stopped receiving notifications from the Xbox App a few weeks ago. Some time ago, I noticed the notifications for say achievements, friend requests and invites were delayed (varied over time), but recently it just completely stopped. I was
thinking it was a software issue within the Xbox App itself, so I checked the settings and toggled the notification settings but to no avail. I also tried installing and using the Xbox App(beta) but that also didn't fix the issue. I then decided it could be
a hardware issue and so checked on my Surface Book and a separate desktop PC, neither of which fixed it. I suspect it could be an issue with my account rather than anything to do with Windows, however, I will note that the Xbox App is NOT listed in the Notifications
& Actions settings on Windows 10, meaning I can't control how notifications are done outside of the app itself (which wasn't the case before).

I rely entirely on receiving notifications on my Windows Mobile to see if I've received a message, achievement or friend request.

    Cheers,

    :)

    Notification problem

No message notifications since last update (22-dec-2016)

Sounds for notifications have not worked since past 3-5 updates

Have removed app, restarted phone, reinstalled, restarted phone, launched app. Yes all settings for notifications / sound / etc are on and have been toggled off, restarted, toggled on, restarted.

UPDATE: Notifications working now, but still no sound when phone locked or in another app. Sound only plays when in xbox app but not while messaging portion of app is displayed.

    iphone 4s

    ios 9.3.5

    connected via 4g/wifi

Achievement Notifications are pointless and can't be disabled

Every time I unlock an Achievement while playing on my Xbox One, I now get a notification from the Xbox App on my iPhone.

This is a totally pointless "feature". When I've unlocked an Achievement, I am quite obviously
on my Xbox, and as such will already know that I've just unlocked an Achievement - spamming the Xbox App on my phone with notifications about the same Achievements is utterly unnecessary, and
    extremely annoying.

There is also no way to turn it off without disabling all notifications for the Xbox App.

The notification settings in the Xbox App on iOS let you enable/disable notifications for Messages, Friends, Clubs, etc., and yet there is no option to specifically turn off this completely redundant "feature".

  4. No Notifications on Xbox App

    Hi,

For us to provide you with precise solutions to your concern, kindly answer the following questions:

    1. Have you made any changes to your device or Xbox account before encountering this issue?

    2. Are you using the same Microsoft account on all your devices?

We suggest that you access this
    link
and run the Windows apps troubleshooter. This can help in resolving issues regarding Microsoft products downloaded from the Windows Store.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks for the reply,

Since it's been a while I do not recall whatsoever any changes I made to my account, however, I will note that this occurred after a device modification, namely, a GPU change. Shortly after upgrading to a GTX 1080, instead of delayed notifications, it just
completely stopped. Whenever there's a change to hardware on Windows 10 I notice there's a delay between boot and login screen, probably because it was trying to verify something. Either case, no change was ever made to my Microsoft/Xbox account and I never
toggled or played around with the Notifications & Actions settings.

I use the same Microsoft account across all my devices, but I suspect thanks to Windows Sync Settings it's actually just killing off notifications from the Xbox app no matter which device I'm using. Soon enough I'm going to try and hard reset a device and
login without my Microsoft account to see if the Xbox App appears in the Notifications & Action settings, but would still like to know if there's another solution to this problem and why it's occurred.

  6. You’re welcome. Thanks as well for keeping us in the loop.

Another troubleshooting solution we can perform is to update the Xbox app. To do so, kindly access this

    link
and follow the steps on how to check for updates for apps and games. Search if there are any updates available for the Xbox app.

If the same thing occurs, proceed with uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Here are the steps:

    1. Launch Windows PowerShell as an administrator. To do this, click Start > All apps > Windows PowerShell. Right-click Windows PowerShell and click More > Run as Administrator.
    2. In the Windows PowerShell window, copy and paste the following command: Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage
    3. Once done uninstalling, click this
      link
      to get the Xbox app.

Let us know how it goes.

I have tried both troubleshooting solutions and neither fixes the issue. I have however discovered two ways to fix it myself, though, I do not feel they're the most ideal solutions as it'd require a repeat with every new PC/OS install. Essentially I did
an OS reinstall on a device and upon setup I skipped the option to use a Microsoft Account to login and went local instead. In doing so, I prevented whatever weird setting was syncing into the new device that causes all my other devices to no longer show notifications
from Xbox. When logging into the Xbox App, I used another Xbox Account that I knew had notifications on another device, to make sure I'm using nothing related to my account, to see if the issue was hardware related. Notifications worked successfully with that
account, and so I proceeded to login to my account both in the app and the device itself but still disabled Sync Windows Settings just in case. It now works perfectly.

Another solution I discovered was with my primary device. I'm highly reluctant to do an OS reset as I did with the other device so tried different types of notifications. In that I mean I tested to see if messages, achievements, friends streaming or favourites
online would notify me about them, but none of them did. However, I tried being the recipient of a game invite since I'm usually the party leader (on Gears 4 PC) and suddenly the notification popped up. From here, all notifications worked perfectly which while
relieves me of having to do an OS reset, means I have to repeat the game invite solution on all my other devices, whether or not I game on them.

I will note the Powershell solution provided gave me an error when I tried to install the app again (though I didn't save the error code as solution was easy enough) so I simply restarted the device and used the wsreset command to reinstall it.

Thanks for trying to help though (Y) appreciated.

Not getting notifications on Xbox app

To check the system notification settings for the Xbox app, follow these steps (steps may vary depending on your device):

On your mobile device, go to the main Settings menu.

Look for the section or category related to notifications or apps.

Scroll down and locate the Xbox app in the list of installed apps.

Tap on the Xbox app to access its notification settings.

Ensure that notifications are allowed or enabled for the Xbox app.

If you still can't find the notification settings within the system settings, it's possible that the Xbox app doesn't have separate notification controls and relies on the default notification settings of your device.

If you have already verified that notifications are enabled for the Xbox app in your device's settings, and you're still not receiving friend notifications, it's likely a technical issue with the app itself.

How to block the Xbox Profile?

Go to Xbox beta app or companion app > settings > notifications. Turn the ones off you want

Either that or just sign out of the app when your not using it.

You can also go to Notifications and action settings on windows and turn off notifications for xbox (scroll down to xbox)
