Aimed at kid's? I'm 33 with a wife and 4 kids lol.

And funny enough, NMS doesn't interest my kids but Halo and Mass Effect do.

but thats very anecdotal at best. I'm not saying adults can't enjoy games aimed at kids and vice versa. but games like minecraft, lego games, NMS, etc are aimed at kids. games rated M like halo, GTA and ME are clearly not.

 

No you are right they are not aimed at kid's. Funny thing is, they appeal to kid's more than games like the lego game's. My 10 year old lad would be quite upset to find lego game's for xmas.. Instead he will be making grown men cry on cod as usual.

And before someone gives me the "bad parent" lecture, please don't! My kid's are polite and we'll mannered and don't display aggression because of the games they are allowed to play. Video games are not to blame for a child's misbehaviour, that is normally
a result in their general upbringing NOT what they play on a games console.

I totally agree

 

I really like the concept of No Man's Sky - i.e. discovering new worlds and the world being generated procedurally (and then persisting once discovered). I'm not sure there is a "game" in it though - I hope there is.

Personally I think if they had made it much harder to travel too far (i.e. really need to trade/fight etc. to generate wealth and resources for warp jumps) then the starting footprint of the game would have been smaller (but still with room for discovery)
- then we could have had more players in the same "space".

Also I really would have liked to have seen this type of space discovery based on real world facts and science, i.e. a real star map, the ability to travel to and discover planets around the known cosmos.

But I'm an astronomy freak so maybe my bag just isn't for you.

 

My daughter is really wanting this game on her system but she's also a Minecraft nut. Me? Not so much. It looks good and interesting but looks like could get tedious in the long run. One advantage of PS4 getting it first is a lot of bugs get worked out
and the hype train derails allowing us to see if we REALLY want it after all.

 

I will actually buy the other console for this as I really can't wait for this. (Won't be buying the PS4 just for one game though, games I want are actually starting to come out for it now).

As nerdy as it sounds but I love sci fi and everything about this is something I wanted for a long while.

 

lol goat, I'd never call someone a bad parent for letting their kid play mature games. hell when i was a kid and the PS1 came out i was playing games like silent hill and resident evil and i turned out fine. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. games don't
make kids bad, bad parenting makes them bad. One of my friends hs an 8 year old daughter who plays destiny with one of my other friends. and she's actually pretty good at it. i'd play with her if i didn't hate destiny so much lol.

Bad parents alway look for something other than themselves to blame.....It's normally GTA lol.
