No Man's Sky

So, NMS is a space race? Why does everyone start at the edge of the universe (if such a thing even exists)?

not to be a party pooper here. and i'm not trashing the game, but i don't understand the hype. we really don't know anything the game play. from what i can gather all you do is get dropped in planet, have to collect stuff to make a ship fly to another planet
and keep doing that over and over until you reach the center of the galaxy. it sounds like a minecraft but w/o the building involved. its just searching for materials.

 

Sounds good. I'm the same when it comes to people religiously playing Cod every day....I don't get it, it's just shooting people over and over.

The game won't be for everyone, but it's something different.

 

It gets harder the closer to the centre you get. Say you get involved in a battle and die you lose your ship and resources and must try and rebuild again from that planet.

fair enough. true we all have different taste. like i said, I think minecraft is dumb. obviously millions of people disagree with em on that. I can see the MC crowd liking it, but outside of that, I don't get it. I'm not saying the concept isn't cool or
anything, just that i ahven't sen anything showing why this game is fun, we haven't seen any gameplay, even a dev on neoGAF (he made metrodvania IIRC) was saying the same thing, that there is nothing shown that would lead people to believe this game is fun.
I quit destiny because i wasn't going to run around and collect *** to advance, its not fun for me. This game is literally built around doing nothing but collecting stuff, for me ti sounds boring, more geared towards kids and the minecraft crowd that want
to run around and collect stuff for hours on end.

harder how? do materials get harder to collect? or is there trolling where a group of people gang up on single players and keep killing them making you crash and start over collecting? from what i see there isn't any sort of difficulty to the game outside
of dealing with other players, and if so, how is the combat? will it be fair and fun? or do you get OSK from behind and have to collect things for hours to get in the air for it to happen again? Like i said there is way too little info for the amount of hype
surrounding this game. even if it was my type of game, i'd still not be very hyped to this point.

 

It gets harder because it involves more strategy as you try to travel further to sell goods to buy better ships. Cargo and fuel take up the same space on your ships so you must decide if travelling to certain stars are worth it. Due to the size of the universe
it's unlikely you will be seeing any other players for most of the game. They even said that you won't even know what your character looks like until you run into another player. The battles are against NPC ships mostly and there are police type forces that
will track you if you start destroying to many ships at spacestations for cargo. There are also robots that patrol the universe on planets should you decide to start over mining or killing fauna.

 

The size of the map and why you won't be getting trolled by random players. It's huge!!

again we see no gameplay. just concepts. and if the map is really that big that you'd never see someone, then what is the point really? I'm just saying that people are overly excited about something w/o knowing anything and it seems to happen alot lately.

 

You can still be excited over a concept. All I know is I like what I've seen up to now.

You like it or you don't. It won't be for everyone.

 

Slayin, agreed no real gameplay yet but so far sounds like a good player directed time consumer. Which has its place and does perk my interest. Good thing for me only owning an X1 that this will release on PS4 before Xbox so we will get to see what it is
about before it comes to this console and it will come to Xbox. If this was exclusive you would have heard it shouted from the rooftops by now.

probably not an exclusive, either way i don't base my opinion of games based on what system has them. This just doesn't interest me regardless the platform its on. I can see how the minecraft crowd will like it, but that's never been my interest personally.
then again i don't have hundreds of hours a month to spend playing games either

 

Neither to go I and I'm not a Minecraft fan either but I do love the space Genre and and will be quite happy to spend time playing this game. I also have limited game time so if I buy it I'm not bothered if I'm exploring and travelling to different stars
for a year or more to reach the DNS game. It's more what I hoped destiny would be as far as exploration and travel goes. One to keep an eye on.

Halo and mass effect fill that for me. I like space exploration but i like when it has a cause and isn't a chore. like skyrim, fallout mass effect (except for planet scanning) all felt great. but games like destiny just felt like a chore, minecraft felt
pointless as well. NMS just feels to me like a minecraft aimed at kids with millions of hours who don't want to do anything but kill time IMO
