No Man's Sky Xbox One X Crashing

I bought this game earlier tonight and I keep getting the same crashes. Where the whole one x shut down and I have to walk over and press the power button. I've never had any game crash so hard it shuts down my system

 

Ok well this pretty much confirms that hello games screwed the pooch when it came to the One X updates. The game was running so well up until last week or so.

 

No Man's Sky is the only game doing this to me. I have played hours of PUBG, Fortnite, Agents of Mayhem, and other stuff. This game just randomly locks and there is a loud buzzy noise in the headset. Cannot go to dash and the whole console goes off.
Only on this game and nothing helps. It is just random.

 

Well, I suppose it is good that we can rule out this being a hardware issue with the X at least. I have only had mine since February, so I was a bit worried on that issue.

Interestingly, I was having a similar issue with Firewatch a while back - although when it crashed it did not completely shut down the X. I contacted the game developer directly and aside from the usual suggestions already listed here, they suggested the
following:

Clear the persistent memory stored in the Blue-ray section of their console -- this works even for digital copies of the game! To do this,

Press the menu key of the controller, or scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide

Go to Settings > Disc & Blu-Ray.

In the BLU-RAY section select "Persistent Storage".

Select "Clear persistent storage"

It should be noted that this did not do the trick either, but hey, it's worth a shot, right? I will try it later on this afternoon. What ultimately did fix Firewatch was having it on the internal rather than external drive. As far as NMS is concerned, I
already have it on the internal drive.

Also, is this issue occurring on both the digital and disc versions? As indicated, mine is a brand new disc version which I purchased on Friday. I have never played NMS before this, so of course it's just my luck that when I finally get the game it is unplayable...

 

Mine is digital and i never had a problem with the game crashing up until the last couple weeks. In fact i can't remember a crash until now in NMS. I can't seem to get a response from HG about the issue and I'm about to request a refund based on all
the information I've seen from other users having the same problem.

Sorry to hear there is an issue with launching NMS, but I do recommend to do a Full console factory reset.

Make sure to have your Email and password information so as to not mistakenly forget the account.

I don't have a problem launching the game. What I have is an unplayable game on Xbox One X caused by the latest updates to No Man's Sky. I have done everything but replace the console itself, but since it seems that I'm not the only person having this
issue there is no point in that route.

Sorry to hear the situation has yet to be fixed, but if this issue was posted on the developers page or is well known then more than likely a patch will be available soon.

I own the digital copy of the game and am still getting this issue so I suspect the disk is not what is creating the issue. I submitted a report on their forum and provided a link to this thread. Hopefully they release a hot-fix to resolve this issue soon.

I've also spent the morning playing on my old xbox and can confirm that I was unaffected for the entire time that I was playing.

 

I set the graphics to high performance and the crashes stopped for maybe 5 hours, then I got another crash and gave up.

 

Same issue on one x bought the console for the game... Silly me . Hopefully they will fix soon.

 

I'm officially done with NMS! I started a brand new game at 9:02 am on a freshly turned on XB1X. The game promptly froze at 9:14 am after I had made it to my ship and was heading to get the seal to make repairs. Was doing nothing but walking across
the terrain. I'm deleting the game and that's it. Money wasted yet again on what was a game that never once crashed on me from day one until the last 2 updates.

 

Hey my man. A lot of people are getting this. Go to No Man's Sky | Reddit. Look for xbox issues. This sucks and Hello Games is not addressing it.

 

I've had to stop playing, despite trying all the recommended Xbox actions. It's definitely the game, and Hello Games are notoriously bad at fixing problems, despite being really good at introducing them with every patch (the latest Next patch is the 13th
and is still mostly made up of them trying to fix newly-introduced bugs, rather than the trivial content updates they make a song and dance about).

You can report the problem here: Submit a request – Hello Games - just don't expect a response from them. Despite making over $24m from new purchases when the Xbox version was released, they haven't employed any new staff to provide
an acceptable level of customer support.

I think only reporting the problem in numbers will get them to do anything about it, or even acknowledge it. As their history shows, they rely on people buying the game and not playing it. If you don't report the problem, they'll be quite happy with that.
