No Legendary or Exotic weapons

to all,

I'm currently at a lvl 24 and to this point, I have no legendary or exotic weapons. I play lvl 24 strikes all the time and all I get are rare item rewards that are totally useless to me at this point. I did get a legendary helmut yesterday, but it was
for a warlock class only and I'm a titan so it was useless. I maxed out on my Vanguard with 100 points this week. I think what's probably holding me back is that my Vanguard rank is onlyi 1. I'll continue to play, but is this normal?

Legendary and exotic gear

Other than what I mentioned you have to rank up in either vanguard, crucible, dead orbit, or future war cult, to 2 or lvl 3 for some and then buy legendary gear. I have a mixture of both purchased and stuff I have found. I would stick to buying your legendary
armor cause I rarely get any good armor on missions or farming, and picking up legendary weapons as I have not had to purchase any of my legendary or exotic weapons I have found them or earned them through exotic bounties.

You can purchase legendary armour at vanguard level 2 and weapons at level 3, another option in the strange coin vendor Xûr that appears in the tower on Saturday. He sells a limited list of armour and weapons that changes every week so it is pot luck if
you can use the items or not.

 

I am level 27 and I have never gotten a legendary or exotic engram drop, either i bought them or got lucky on a rare engram.

 

Thnx. I'm not too far away from Vanguard Rank 2, so when that happens I'll buy some armor. I've been to Xur, but I don't have enough strange coins. I'll continue to grind it out. I want to do VOG with some friends, but I just can't tackle it yet with
what I have.

 

I just got to lvl 25 and I had this problem for a long time and then yesterday I got 3 legendary drops playing tiger strikes. Plus if u lvl up your cryptarch you have a chance in getting a legendary from him.

 

I'm doing all tiger strikes myself and hope something drops soon. I think my level at the Cryptarch is 6 or so. How many times can you kill the Archon Priest or that *** Nexus and get nothing to show for it. lol.

 

Try the Weekly Nightfall or Heroic strikes. You should get a legendary as a reward from doing them. I solo the nightfall every week, My lvl 28 Titian has all legendary and exotic gear and I have as yet to do a raid.

 

I have 9 exotics and too many legendary weapons to count, I've got three of the same legendary sniper and two of the same exotic rocket launcher, I would give you one but you know... No trading

 

So far I have had to purchase my legendary or exotic armor. I have been fortunate to pick up all my weapons either by farming, patrols, crucible, or strikes. You got to mix it up. you get the best stuff from undecoded engrams. And the higher level you
are the better. I did get some exotic bounties because i usually make sure I do 10 a day. You have to grind, farm, PvP, and repeat.

 

I knew it was a grind, but I thought that as you leveled up the engram drops would give you legendary weapons or gear. From what I'm hearing, that's the exception, which is fine. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something that I should be doing to
get those type of engram drops.

I did that daily last night without a problem and then I was doing the weekly (Devil's Lair) when just as I was killing that spider, I got booted back to orbit. It said my connection to the internet was gone. Talk about frustrating.

Thnx for all the info. I'll keep the grind going, but I just can't play 6 hrs a day i.e. wife, kids, kids activities, etc.

 

Once you hit Vanguard level 2 it'll get a good bit easier to grind for levels until you get around lvl 28. Once you can just buy your equipment at least your grinding for a guaranteed piece of equipment(something bought with vanguard marks). Also do as many
bounties as you can, I've bought all of my legendary gear but 2 out of 3 of my exotic weapons came from bounties(the 3rd was a random crucible award).

While your working on getting your legendary gear you might want to start stocking up on the consumables you can find on each planet(spinmetal, relic iron, etc) you'll need it to upgrade your legendary and exotic gear. Only thing keeping my at level 8 right
now is a lack of helium filaments to upgrade my armor. You might want to try and mix up what each piece of armor needs for upgrade. My upgrades are taking forever now because I have two pieces of armor and a weapon that all need helium filaments to upgrade
and its taking forever to get enough!

 

Nemesis, thnx for the information. I'm just shy of Vanguard 2 and noticed I can buy quite a bit of armor at that level. I have plenty of Glimmer, so I'll buy the consumables.

 

Nemisis, find a nice pattern on the moon and stick with it. I collected 45 helium filaments in less than 30 minutes.

PS: My drops and rewards are horrible. Everyone I play with always gets a big laugh at the end of levels and matches as I get *** every time. I have earned everything I have and I am at level 28.
