  1. no internet = locked console

last week i changed internet providers so was without internet for a week , i turned xbox on to game or 2 to only find my console and 200 games ( half digital) unable to play . The ones that did run had no saves so would mean starting the game all over again
, and also all of the functions are blocked including achievements . so question is WHY are these f**kers locking our xboxs ? not everyone wants to play online and not everyone has internet at home so what the f**k is going on ?

    :)

    Done all troubleshooting steps

    Hard Reset on console

    Soft Reset in settings

    Clearing Mac Address

Deleting account from xbox one console and reinstalling

Rebooted internet and even disconnected console from internet and reset it.

    Reset Console

My XboxOne account is locked(I can unlock achievements on Xbox360/Pc). It's a Microsoft problem

Erm.............................if someone doesn't have the internet, why would they buy a modern console?

I mean pretty much all of them rely heavily on the internet for game and system updates.

    Your console isn't blocked.

As long as it's set as your home console you just put it into offline mode in the settings & you can use it offline.

You can still earn a certain amount of achievements offline but they wont show as unlocked until you connect to live again.Achievements are linked to the cloud on the xbox one to prevent modding so you can thank everyone whos modded their Gamerscore for
    that.

Less than 5 minutes research would tell you all of this.

If you're not going to be online with your Xbox, you're going to need to set your profile as the Home Console.

However, you'll need to be online to be able to set your profile as the home console.

Once you're online, sign into your profile and go to Settings > Personalization > My Home Xbox > Choose Make This My Home Xbox

Then make sure your digital games work. Then disconnect your internet connection and test

  7. For awesome single player titles?

On the 360 if a game required a certain OS version then the game carried that update on the disc. It's a shame that companies can't go back to doing that but space is at a premium these days I suppose.

Yet the Xbox One hasn't been 'hacked' in the almost five years it has been out. So either Microsoft had no faith in the system which has so far kept people from tampering or perhaps there is another reason.

People can be somewhat obsessed with earning achievements and they don't even popup when you are offline, you have a limited amount of storage for offline achievements. It's almost as if Microsoft want to make people go online where they can be exposed to digital
storefronts. That's just me being paranoid though.

Personally I think Achievements being cloud based is simply a hold over from when the console was going to require a 24 hour check in.

You mean those awesome single player titles that require major updates on day one, or major updates for content? you mean those single player games?

Unfortunately in this day and age games ship with major bugs, and the current mentality is to patch the bugs on day one, without internet those bugs will live forever.

  9. Of course games these days have more issues but it is actually quite rare for one to be so broken that it can't be finished and enjoyed.

Even AC: Unity's issues were more hilarious than game breaking.

Erm...............I can name quite a few.

    Halo MC Collection

    Uncharted 4

    No Mans Sky

That was just off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure there are more.

If you don't get these game updates could you still play the games? possibly, but with Assassins Creed there would be a very good chance it would be crashing to the desktop fairly regularly (the day one update patch notes talks about game stability), and
in the case of Halo, there would be no multiplayer.
