No internet and backward compatibility

I unfortunately live out in the boonies and the only internet available is slow satellite and it's super expensive. What will need to do be able to play my 360 games? I can go to a buddies house to update my Xbox One but will i need to be connected to
the Internet to play? I hope I just update my xbox only one time and be able to play 360 games available from then on. I know i cannot install games while online because once I get back home I cannot play them offline. Will I have to install the 360 games
or can I just play them with the disk. Thanks for the help

Hey mate,

My understanding is that you will need to be online to donwload and install the game, but once it is downloaded and installed, you should be able to play it offline without any problems. In the fine print on the backwards compatabilty page it states this:
'Xbox Live and broadband internet required for initial download of game to console.' Which shows to me that you only need it for the initial download.

Even if you have the disc, you still need to install the game before you can then play it.

So you should be ok to play them at home if you can donwload them at your mates house

Thanks for the response. I will give it a shot tonight with Halo Reach. I cannot wait for Battlefield 3c COD 4, MW2, and Left 4 Dead to be added to the list.

Also when you first put an Xbox 360 disc in an Xbox One that is on the backwards compatible list the console needs to be connected to the internet and online to allow it to download the backwards compatible version of the game to your console from Microsoft.

I believe for the initial install of the backwards compatible option you need to be connected to the internet to update your console to play it backwards. Try that and hopefully it helps you out.
