No Idea What Is Happening

So forgive me I've never resorted to the Xbox Forums for problems before since most are fixable. I have a ton of issues going on so let me give you a full detailed story.

I bought my boyfriend the Call of Duty Limited Edition Xbox One for Xmas and he loves it but he only plays for an hour or so a day and uses it mostly for Hulu which is fine.

I borrowed a friends Halo MCC in January and got to play for about an hour a day with no problems. Recently I bought my own copy to play with said friend over Xbox Live and now I'm having a laundry list of problems with this Xbox One.

We can play for about 2 hours without incident until I cant talk to her anymore even though the mic is plugged in and I can still play the game.

Then I lose control of the game, its like the controller is disconnected but I can still pause.

Then I cant unpause after about 30 seconds. I'll turn off the controller and try to reconnect and get nothing. I'll try another controller to try to go to the home screen and get nothing.

My Xbox One is not responding and I'm forced to turn it off and restart our co-op game from the beginning of a level.

At first I thought it was the game, or the controller, but I think its the system itself since two controllers (one from the bundle, one bought separately) don't work. I'm sure this isn't a common problem but is there a fix? I don't have Kinect to see if the
Xbox would respond that way. I'm just afraid my boyfriends fairly new Xbox is a dud :/

If you have solutions or suggestions please feel free to share. My last resort is sending it in for repair.

Hi i recently had a issue similar to yours. When i start have connection issues i reset my Xbox just make sure its turned off and hold u finger on the power button for 30 seconds. Xbox may beep or you'll see your battery pack for the console go from white
to yellow this should fix your issues.

You are simply suggesting to restart my xbox which does not actually solve the problem. I have power cycled it and I still have had this issue.

The Wireless Controller support was not of help unless it is the Xbox One Malfunctioning. I play within 6ft of the console and without interference of any sort when it stops responding.

 

In addition to the other problems. Last night the optical drive started to make the common grinding noise problem that's going around and so we turned it right back off. This morning it 'turns on' but I no longer have visual or audio. So the first thing
I checked was the HDMI cord which is plugged in and fine. The controller I used to turn it on unsynced and the Xbox light is on for the console but the lack of any fan noise makes me think its simply a toasted console. I don't know if these additional problems
add or take away any idea of what is going on.

 

Honestly, it sounds like it may be an issue with the xbox. Especially if its happening on two seperate controllers

My advice would be to take it back to where you purchased it from and have it replaced. If you got it on Christmas then you'll still be covered by the warranty. I'd love to give you a better solution, but what your saying just says to me that its a console
on the way out

 

We caved and are going to send it in for repair. Do you know if they always wipe hard drives during repair?

 

Yeah, to be honest, that was probably the only move you had to make. I had issues like that on my old 360, and they just end up getting worse and worse.

There is a chance that the hard drive will be wiped during the repair, so I'd reccomend transferring what data you need on to an external HD before sending it in, then you can transfer it back when you get it back

It's always best to format your hard drive before sending it off for repair.

All your saves will be saved on the cloud so no need to worry about that & you can just redownload any games/dlc when you get your console back.
