  1. No HDD works, but boots fine

Randomly got Error 68, tried my HDD in another 360 and it works fine. Tried 3 other known working HDD in my xbox and they all get the error.

HOWEVER it boots fine without one and runs off flashdrives.

I thought that error code meant the HDD itself was the issue.

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows a solution.

Also every time it boots theres a "system update" that lasts all of 30 seconds. Possibly unrelated but it happened at the same time.

    :)

  2. Xbox was turned off during update, doesn't boot anymore!

    Hey guys,

my Xbox was accidentally turned off during an update and now it doesn't boot anymore. It works fine with another (250GB) HDD, but my 320GB HDD doesn't work anymore. Any solutions?

BLACK OPS II - disc unrecognized

My game will boot w/o the HDD. I don't have a gamertag or anything, and can't play LIVE, but campaign works. The only thing left on the HDD is original BO. I moved my tag to a USB thumb drive. I'm tempted to format the HDD to see if it fixes it. I don't
understand why all the other games work fine, except this one!

360 Starts Initial Setup Wizard When Trying to Sign Into Xbox Live

When I boot it without the HDD it works fine. However if there is any profile on any device it will boot into the Welcome channel. Now when I try to sign into Live with the recovered gamertag it gets stuck at "signing in" until I push "B". Then it will sign
to the 360 but not live. I have recovered the tag to an MU, USB and different HDD all with the same result.

    Need Help Please!

Configure a USB Flash Drive with a USB Memory Unit. Remove the console's HDD and boot with just the USB flash drive attached. If things work fine then then HD is failing. If they don't then there are bigger problems.

Setting up a Second XBOX 360 in Bedroom

ok i have somethign i hear now.. in the new 320 HDD inside the new slim every now and then i hear a CLUNKING sound ... it is NOT steady sounding like where it is constant.. but more like intermittent... sounds like the HDD platter noise..
or the heads on the hdd clucking... everything is working fine aside from that.. and i hear it occasionally NOT constant... Does anyone know if that is NORMAL?!?! i took the HDD out and tried to boot it.. of course it couldnt get booting up wihtout
drivers for the kinect.. but i did NOT hear the clunking sound.. so that leads me to belive it is the HDD!!

    any insight?!?!

What if I never download system updates?

Then your system wouldn't be up to date and some features may fail too run properly.
My system isn't up to date and everything is working fine - as long as I leave the internal HDD alone.

All games and apps are being run by the external HDD.

Console boots up fine as well - but just a black screen. No One-x chipset animation or xbox one green screen.
