No game or chat audio. Wired controller to USB ports. (Works on Xbox One and One S)

I am currently having an issue with the chat/game audio coming out of my Xbox One X. Whenever I first turn on my Xbox One X there is no audio at all (game or chat). I have wired controllers and am plugging them into the USB ports
(I tried the front USB port and ones on the back). The only way the issue is corrected is by unplugging the controller and then plugging it back in. The controllers I have used are the one that came with the Xbox One X and one from Razer. The headset I am
using is a Turtle Beach XO Four. I have also tried this on my Xbox One and an Xbox One S. Both of which I do not have this issue.

    :)

Xbox One S Controller on PC - horrible audio quality

I've bought Xbox One S Controller for BT connection and audio jack port.

When I connect it wireless - controleller works fine, but audio quality is HORRIBLE.

When I connect it wired - audio is ok.

Windows 10 see this controller as a Hands-Free Headset and there is no option to set better quality than 16 bit 8000Hz (phone quality).

  3. Controllers not transmitting audio data

This started with my Day One controller and my Turtle Beach x41's (which had to use an audio adapter and a 3.5mm-2.5mm adaptor cable). One day, chat just stopped working. Game audio (which is uses Turtle Beach's transmitter) was fine, but the Xbox no longer
recognized that a mic was attached. Party chat gave no microphone options and defaulted to the Kinect mic and games like Call of Duty no longer had the mic icon. Further more, the mute button on the audio adaptor no longer lit up when you toggled it.

I bought new cables and a new 3.5mm-2.5mm cable adaptor- same result.

I bought a new audio adapter for the controller- same result.

I bought a new Xbox One wireless controller (and updated it while connected via usb cable with the headphones and audio adapter attached)- same result.

I bought the XO One gaming headset. The audio adapter for that lights up, I get low beep tones when I've maxed out the volumes, I get mic playback in the earphones and the mute seems to work- yet nothing goes to or from the Xbox One console. No game audio,
    no mic audio.

Took my controller and XO Ones to a friend's house and tried them out- nothing. Plugged my XO One audio adapter into his controller and it worked! Game audio and mic. So, I figure I must have two defective controllers.

Today, I went to Best Buy and purchased a wired controller- but when I got it home, I realized that the newer controllers only have the 3.5mm jack and not the usb jack with the two prongs. Plugged in the XO Ones, and got game audio just fine. The Xbox seemed
to recognize that a mic was plugged in, but no chat audio was being transmitted. Checked in-game with Black Ops III, which shows a mic transmitting icon when audio is heard. Nothing. Checked my x41's, plugging them directly into he 3.5mm jack with no chat
adapter- same result. Console recognized that a mic was attached, but no chat audio was being transmitted through my mic. (BTW, this new controller did not prompt a software update).

Returned the wired controller and picked up a new standard wireless XBox One controller that has the 3.5mm jack next to the usb jack with the two prongs. Updated it as soon as I turned it on (with the XO One chat adapter and headset connected). Same as my existing
controllers. No audio transmitted either way- so, now I have to take that controller back for a refund.

May just be my console- though, a number of people on another thread believe it was a software update issue, I'm not so sure. A while back, I even tried resetting the console back to the factory condition. Nothing.

    Heya MopnGlo7.

Sorry to hear about the chat audio troubles you're experiencing! To check, do you have any other headphones or headsets you can test to see if there's any change with the audio?

Xbox 1 controller not connecting to PC

    Hi,

What battery are you referring to? Are they actually re-chargeable?

The Xbox One controller should work on a PC while wired with or without a battery. If no battery is present, the USB port itself will power the controller.

As for ports, it won't matter what port you use. While there are indeed different types of USB ports, the Xbox One controller will work on any USB A port as it only needs USB 2.0 which have been standard for over 15 years now. All USB ports are backwards
    compatible with previous versions.

There could be an issue with your controller cable. Have you tried a different one? For the controller to function when wired the cable must be able to send and receive data. Any USB to Micro USB cable rated as a 'Sync and charge' will work with the Xbox
One controller. Other than that the port on the controller could be damaged.

No audio when xbox 1 hooked to pc monitor

Tried this, it did not work for some reason, but even if it did ...it would still take up the port on the controller that he uses for his headset for chat.

It's really not that important to me to buy a whole new speaker system. I just thought if the hdmi to displayport wire was supposed to transmit audio then maybe it was a setting in xbox or the pc that needed to be changed to get the speakers to switch between
the xbox audio and the pc audio.

A friend suggested an adapter to go from the xbox audio s/pdif port to a 3.5 mm aux, but I only find special fiber optic ones that won't work with a standard 3.5 aux port.

How does it work with the headset

Okay so a 360 head set will connect to your xbox via optical cable for game audio (the more expensive wireless ones anyways) im not sure how the wired ones would work. There is a chat cable that will connect the head set to the controller for chat audio.

The xbox one versions that Microsoft and turtle beach have made will just plug in to your controller and you will get game and chat audio from that

If I use the Xbox One stereo adapter and/or a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable, will my official Xbox 360 wired headset work on my Xbox One?

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    Good evening

Yes, you can use the Xbox One Stereo Adapter along with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable to use your official Xbox 360 wired headset with your Xbox One. The adapter is necessary as it allows you to connect the 2.5mm jack of the headset to the 3.5mm port on the Xbox One controller.

Once you have connected the headset, you should be able to hear both game audio and chat audio through the headset. The Xbox One allows you to adjust the balance between game audio and chat audio in the settings.

Regarding the compatibility of the Xbox 360 wired headset with the Xbox One, while the official Xbox website states that the headset only works with licensed Xbox 360s, it should still work with the Xbox One if you use the adapter.

If you do not have the Xbox One Stereo Adapter, you can also use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable that has a microphone built-in. This will allow you to plug the headset directly into the Xbox One controller and use it for both game audio and chat audio.

As for stripping wires or hacking the headset, this is not recommended as it can damage the headset and is not a reliable or safe solution.
