No dedicated servers for titanfall in Australia

There is a rumour going around that Microsoft will be renting Telstra servers for Titanfall until they get their azure servers up and running here. At least then we won't be playing on Asian servers with high ping.

 

The Ausgamers review starts with an interesting preamble that states:

"AusGamers flew to San Francisco courtesy of EA to review Titanfall.

As a result, this review was conducted in a near ideal environment. We had sub-20 pings and there was very little network congestion (there were, in fact, occasions when the servers were too empty to properly accommodate people).

Keep that in mind as you read this review, but with the expiry of the embargo I can reveal that Respawn Entertainment and EA are working very hard to have servers located in Australia available for the
launch of Titanfall. It's circumstantial, but the EA South Africa Facebook page illuminates the fact that EA fully expects these servers to be live for launch (or very close to launch) in Australia (otherwise they would have pulled the game from the
regional store.)"



It is interesting that this does not mention MS, just EA and Respawn. But it does seem something is in the wind; and that possibly the game would not have been sold in this region if server support was not possible. If Aussie servers do suddenly
pop up let us all know.

 

Didn't happen. We are on Asian servers for launch.

 

So Titanfall is launching today and as predicted, Australian gamers are playing this game connected to South East Asian Data Centre servers.

There is definitely lag present for us today and some people have more of an issue with it than others



So far, we have not had ANYONE in any official capacity related to this game's release down under come and update us exactly WHEN we'll be getting local servers up and running, but it goes without saying that without them, this game is far less an experience
than what it could be.

Australia NEEDS to have it's servers up sooner rather than later.

"I can reveal that Respawn Entertainment and EA are working very hard to have servers located in Australia available for the launch of Titanfall."

This was a marketing lie. Australia did NOT get those servers and were likely never going to get them anyway at launch.

I'm disappointed in the extreme that a representative spokesman from Respawn and NOT Microsoft made such an announcement, knowing they neither have the capacity to personally fulfill the promise or be honest and up front about the outcome.

We WILL get servers for this game down under, that much we know.

WHEN that will honestly happen though, no one really knows.

Please bear this in mind before you rush out to buy your copy today. You WILL be lagging when you play this game, although depending on your local and connection speed, your milage may vary.

 

The thing is Austacker Microsoft had already stated when we to receive azure servers. Respawn and EA are the ones who went ahead and cashed in on the game here without the infrastructure in place. I expected this type of thing from them and like I said I
only have the game because I got it as part of a bundle deal.

 

Hmm I have to eat my words now. EA/Respawn just announced that we will have AU servers go live tomorrow. Not Microsoft servers but a custom solution. Guess they aren't as bad as I made them out to be. Might actually put some hours into this game now.

Yep apparently it is all happening and was a joint effort between all three companies. Where did you see that these were not Azure servers?

 

Might have to eat my words again. I heard a few different things from various sources but it seems from the Xbox Australia facebook page that it may well be early stages the AU Microsoft azure servers after all.
