No dedicated servers for titanfall in Australia

Enough to give you a pause, so now you will research this more. In doing so, you may not pre-order, you might wait to see how the game is playing? This is how responsible consumers should be! They don't just blindly
purchase and then whine excessively after the fact because they didn't plan ahead! I hope things work out for Australia in this situation.....

Is 8 Hours Too Long For A Single Player Campaign?

Purchased the first Titanfall knowing there was no campaign and was not disappointed. Dedicated M.S. servers had a lot to do with my enjoyment. If they're not using dedicated servers for Titanfall 2 I have no interest.

What?? why would single player games need dedicated servers? It's only important for online multiplayer centric games like BF4 COD, Titanfall etc.

 

I always research everything I buy. And if I don't I still won't complain because it was my stupid fault for not researching in the first place!

 

If it didn't cost companies an arm and a leg to put servers here in Australia then it wouldn't be a drama. I'm looking forward to ESO but I have to play on US or EU servers.

 

Id rather play on host/client servers than use a dedi on another continent, just saying.

 

You all really need to read the Respawn thread on this, all 16 pages and growing. It seems it is a 200ms plus ping to the Singapore servers (with the exception of WA) and even worse if you are Kiwi. No server support is coming to Australia until late 2014.
The word really needs to go out that this game will be unplayable for most Aussies and certainly all Kiwis. Check the thread...

Interesting. I won't be going out my way to buy it then despite a spark of interest in it. Didn't think EA would cater to the Australian/NZ crowd.

 

P2P or host/client servers may be the better option for you guys any ways?

 

No we just have to wait until the end of the year when Microsoft extend their cloud gaming servers into Australia before we start buying competitive FPS on the Xbox One.

 

Playing the beta from perth, 83 ms ping and it seems pretty smooth to me.

 

Perth consistently shows the best ping at around 60 to 80ms from what I've seen, everywhere else in Australia, expect anywhere between 120 to 220ms ping, which is utterly unplayable. Reports are surfacing that the ping is so bad for some that they get kicked
from matches.

I am in Newcastle, N.S.W and my ping hovers between 120-140ms to the SE Asia server and yeah, it is definitely a problem.

 

Urgh, only noticed there was a thread on this topic now (already posted another one).

Now that I've had the opportunity along with everyone else to give this a run via beta test I have to say that the lack of local servers IS impacting the gameplay performance and enjoyment of the game.

I'm EAST coast of Australia (Sydney) and from here, our 'best' connection is US West (this is the default that comes up) at about 125 ping. When I connect to this server, I'll be on 1 or 2 bars connection speed whilst everyone else is full (as I'm playing
against US players). The game is pretty much unplayable. I'll be shot around corners or dead before I even see an opponent. This was *extremely* frustrating.

I changed the data centre to South East Asia where I was pitched against other Australians (finally) as we ALL had between 1 and 3 bars connection (West Australians get 3 bars being closer to the data centre) and whilst we were all on a poor connection,
it was at least playable - but VERY far from an optimal experience.

Yes, the game is 'playable' with a connection outside of Australia, but it's by no means acceptable or providing the best game expereince as the official line has stated it would.

The fact we're getting no feedback or updates via official channels is also very disturbing and quite frustrating to say the least.

The game itself is great, but the lack of a local server farm for Australian gamers is an outright killer.

If US players were forced to use Asian servers for their connection, Microsoft would give a damn enough to ensure they got a proper infrastructure in place before launch.

Australians it seems (sadly enough) are not important enough for Microsoft to make this situation better before launch and this is quite disappointing.

 

According to a link in wikipedia MS have data centres coming soon to melbourne and sydney but it doesnt actually say how soon.

The game feels awkward with our lack of servers down under. Not unplayable, but far from ideal.

I have only tried to play on US servers twice and given up in disgust.

The 'best' we get is 200+ to SE Asian for East cost Australia, only because we get to play with other Australians on equally bad pings.
