No connection - opening ports??

please help I have been advised to open ports so my Xbox will connect, I have followed the online guides but must be missing something -

on the inbound traffic it wants an IP address to send to LAN server - I don't know what this is!! Anyone with suggestions please my little boy is distraught !

Xbox live connection problems?

There are no issues when I test connection, and opening the ports does nothing for me.

xbox live connection error

no i have tried that. opening ports gives me a live connection error, turning on upnp gives me strict nat. i have also tried the dmz method but that also gives me a strict nat.

I'm in the UK, I have tried creating the rules for the ports and adding them to my DLink Sky router.

I don't know what I have to enter in the send to lan part of the rules?

Is it connected wired or wireless ? ....shouldn't have to do any of what you are saying, if your computer is connecting to the internet . you could try plugging it in with the same cable you computer is using but I would unplug everything (xbox and modem
router) and let it reboot...

Try restarting the console from the power and start up in settings, that worked for me.

Since you are connected by wireless did you configure any ports in yours router/modem management?

Doing port fowarding (opening specific ports) get you a better connection. The alternative is connect by cable, in this case you wont need to open ports.
