Hi, after the latest preview update yesterday all 3 of my Xbox and all of the newer 3.5mm controllers have the same problem. The Xbox does not detect anything plugged into them, doesn't matter if it's head phones, ear buds, head sets. Under devices the volume
slider stays grayed out, and inside of party it just keeps displaying the message no headsets plugged in. Everything worked fine before the latest update. All earbuds, headphones, etc work fine with all other devices. This is exclusive to Xbox.

if I use a headset chat adapter, everything works correctly. But when plugged into the 3.5mm port, nothing. Absolutely must be a software issue with Microsoft due to the troubleshooting performed and the fact that they even work with the headset adapter
    and other devices.

Hard resets, etc will not resolve this.

Microsoft whats up with you breaking headsets right before Christmas? Come on.

You need to report problems encountered after Dashboard updates via the Xbox Insiders Report a problem function so that the Dashboard team can get data from your console when you file the report. Posting your comments here on the forums doesn't help as you
aren't including the diagnostic information that is collected from your console.

If you aren't willing to follow the proper Xbox Insider reporting protocol or be affected by unexpected bugs/changes during Preview updates then maybe you should consider unenrolling your console(s).

    Hey there Nation,

Sorry to hear you are running into this problem. I do want to take a moment and just ask you to keep it professional and simply follow our

    Forums Guidelines
    .

Now from what you stated (preview build update) it sounds like you are in the preview program. In this case if you are running into any problems you should be able to provide

    Feedback as an Xbox Insider
through the Xbox Insider Hub app. Go ahead and follow that link if you do need more information on providing said feedback.

    I hope this helps!

    Hey there Nation,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the headset..

I recommend taking a look at the following troubleshooting articles:

    If the problem persists:

    • Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working.
If not, the headset will need to be replaced.

Try this out and let us know the results.
The steps in your generic cut and paste response do not work, I've already pointed out the hardware worked up until a specific update yesterday and it continues to work on other devices. How about you document the OS version and escalate it accordingly or
provide real assistance and not basic steps everyone can google in 20 or 30 seconds. Not trying to be rude with you, but you aren't even trying.

NP - thank you also. I ended up doing a hard reset too after calling MS tech support. The tech said he thinks it might be a failed system component inside the xbox itself, but that doesn't make a lot of sense seeing as the rest of the audio works fine,
and I have a third party controller (PowerA) whose 3.5 port still works (it's got static like it's always had, but it does work). Knowing you and others have tried hard reset with no change makes me think I won't mess with a repair or new xbox like they suggested
    - obviously there is some update related thing going on, so I'll just sit tight and wait for a future update or some acknowledgement and guidance from Microsoft, if it ever comes.
