No Audio Over HDMI

I just bought a used Xbox 360 from Gamestop's Blast From The Past Bundle to use as a spare 360 and because my main Xbox 360 is one of the original pre-HDMI Xbox 360's and I figured using HDMI would be a little more convenient than using the HD Component
cables. However, while the component cables work just fine with both video and audio for the most part, when I use the HDMI cable only, there's no audio output whatsoever. I've tried different HDMI cables, I've tried different displays including plugging the
Xbox 360 into my Xbox One's HDMI In port and using the TV app but there's still no sound. I've also tried changing the audio output to different formats but none of them make a difference either.

:)

Audio over HDMI with the Xbox 360 Audio adapter?

In the description on Xbox 360 HDMI Cable | Connect the Xbox 360 HDMI Cable it says:

"If both cables are plugged in, the Xbox 360 console transmits audio over the audio adapter and video over the HDMI cable."

Does this mean that the audio will ONLY be transmitted over the audio adapter and ONLY video on the HDMI cable?

Or will the HDMI signal include both video and audio?

I find the description a little lacking.

HDMI Audio - No sound

Hello. Up through this last Friday, my 360 console was connected through my receiver via HDMI. No issues with display or audio. Then this last Saturday no audio via HDMI. I have tried multiple methods of identifying the issue, including verifying correct
display and digital audio settings. I cannot identify why audio does not carry over the HDMI cable. I have tested the cable on another system component without issue. I have tried additional HDMI cables on the console, but still no audio. I'm not sure what
else I can do. Suggestions? Fixes? I just don't know why audio suddenly decided to cut completely out of a previously satisfactory connection. Thanks in advance.

Audio problem over HDMI

Hi Zen,

I take it you're using the tv speakers and not passing the audio through an amp or anything?

Something simple that I have seen fix this issue is to unplug all the cables, press the power button several times, wait five minutes and then hook everything back up. Sounds crazy I know but I have personally tried this with a friends console that suddenly
started doing the same thing and it fixed it.

@ThingOnAString. I'll try that.

@ailronroll. I have an LG 47LM7600 TV, and I'm using the TV speakers.

Audio problem over HDMI
I may be able to help.

Do you have more than one HDMI cable? The older generation cables tend to have a latency with the picture and the sound. Newer ones, especially the ones that are high speed, have little to no latency issues.
I already answered that.
I have tried using
different HDMI leads, different HDMI ports, even different televisions, but with the same results.
Although, the leads I do have are a bit older, so a newer one may work. Thanks.

Audio problem over HDMI

@ThingOnAString. Your suggestion seems to have work.

@ailronroll. The sound encoder was on DTS, and it was plugged into the third HDMI port.

The problem seems to be fixed. Thanks for the help guy.
