  1. no audio from headphones on controller w/ 3.5mm jack if use DVI

At home, if I plug my headphones into my controller's (the new one with a 3.5mm jack), I can hear the game sound fine.

I just moved into college, and I am using a computer monitor as my "TV screen." I'm using an hdmi -> dvi converter (the monitor only supports DVI and VGA), and now the headphones when plugged in the controller don't work (the headphones still work on my
    computer though)

I checked for updates on my controller, and it is all up-to-date. Any help is appreciated! (And I'm new to these forums, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes.)

    :)

  2. Xbox One S HDMI to DVI

It should work, but expect to run it at upscaled 720p, or downscaled 1080p (if available).

DVI does not carry audio signal (especially when converted from HDMI), so you'll have to connect a 3.5mm pair of headphones to your controller or use the Xbox One's optical audio output.

How to get audio after connecting the vga cable to pc monitor? Please Help

You can't get sound through a VGA cable, that's definitely right. I'm not sure which 3.5mm audio jack you're talking about, but if you can connect the red and white cables from the AV cable to a 3.5mm audio jack and connect that to an audio INPUT on your
monitor, that should work for sound. You would of course need to make sure that it's an audio input on your monitor (not a headphone out jack) and that you have either speakers in your monitor or headphones to use.

    DVI with sound not working!

    Hello,

In some cases DVI don't carry an audio signal, only data. The audio and remote-control features of HDMI will not be available unless the output supports HDMI via a DVI plug

The issue you are experincing may be caused even by the type of the TV used, if the TV has an analog input (probably a 3.5mm jack port) it wont be able to take the audio from the DVI, so I'd say use a 3.5mm -3.5mm lead and connect it from your computer to
    your tv that way

In the end I will suggest you to use:

Could you please share more information about your audio setup?

Is your console connected to an audio receiver, or is it connected directly to the TV? Are you using an external soundbar, or the TV's built in speakers?

If you plug in headphones to your controller (if you have a newer controller with 3.5mm headphone jack), do you hear sound from the controller, if you go to the audio settings and use headphone sound?

    Connection Xbox one

Hi, you'd need an HDMI to DVI converter of some sort assuming your monitor has a DVI connection and then you'd have the problem of no audio as DVI only carries video, so you'd also need to look at a way to get audio such as using the optical output on
the Xbox or if your controller has the 3.5mm jack you could hook a headset up to that maybe.
