    No atmos with 4k on


    So I currently have my xbox one x going into my samsung ru8000 55" tv and then out to my vizio atmos soundbar. When I try to enable the bitstream option so I can turn on Dolby atmos I get the error message telling me to check my receiver. Well this tv supports
    atmos content over hdmi-arc when dolby digital + is enabled, but with the xbox one x the only sound option I get is pcm only on the tv.

    Now if I hook the soundbar directly to the soundbar it works fine with no issues.

    Now I know the atmos passthrough works on the tv because I have my firestick 4k hooked into it and I can select the dd+ option on the tv and it plays atmos sound from the Jack Ryan program on prime.

    Any idea when or how I can get this to work?

    Still no Dolby Atmos for my Onkyo TX NR797

    If you're not using a 4k tv or projector, that does create issues as only some apps and such encode atmos in 4k displays...

    I have nearly the exact same setup and problem. I can either connect the Xbox One X directly to the soundbar for Atmos but then I can’t get 4K video. If I connect it using ARC I can get 4K picture but not Atmos sound. This is so frustrating

    It seems that your TV supports Audio Return Channel (ARC). However, on the TV's specification page I don't see if it supports Dolby Atmos through ARC.

    If your TV is capable to send Dolby Atmos via ARC, you'd connect your Xbox to a 4K capable HDMI port OTHER than the HDMI ARC port on your TV.

    You will then get 4K resolution on the TV screen, and the TV would "forward" audio via the Audio Return Channel to the sound bar. If supported, this will then be Dolby Atmos.

    It seems that the Soundbar doesn't support 4K pass through. So either you would need a new TV that supports Dolby Atmos via ARC, or a new soundbar or AV receiver that supports 4K video.

    Same here, I tested and have Atmos everywhere else but disney plus. Im waiting for the fix so I too can watch starwars in 4k HDR and Atmos.

    I have the same problem on Xbox X and XBox One. I’m using the Denon AVR-X 2700H 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the XBox X, and the Yamaha RXV-6A 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the Xbox One. Both receivers were working normally outputting Atmos on Netflix until November 2022. Disney+ and Amazon Prime play Atmos content on both devices without issue, hence indicating that the problem is not with the 4K TV and 4K projector, nor receivers.
