Ninja Gaiden

Discus and support Ninja Gaiden in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I don't know, I didn't really like the demo. It reminded me of GoW. I prefer games that can really kick my @ss. Thanks though. Discussion in 'XBoX on Consoles' started by superSnausages, Jan 20, 2014.

3. Always meant to get into Souls. Played some of Demon's on PS3 and enjoyed it but hated the whole dying and going back to retrieve your souls routine. Seemed a lot more grindy than I'd hoped for, a lot of learning by rote through dying over and over.
I've unlocked that flying swallow thingy you do when you jump and press Y and also a really awesome attack called Izuno Drop where you juggle them in the air and piledrive them into the ground. I think I'm going to be doing that a
lot.
Use A+X Y for Flying Swallow, it tracks better and gives i-frames, later in the game and on difficulties higher than Warrior enemies will anti-air you when using the jump Y FS. With the Izuna Drop if you attack the instant you land it negates recovery frames,
if you miss the timing to attack out of an Izuna you can cancel recovery with a Shuriken, small things but absolutely essential to get into the habit of doing.

5. Thanks, I was kind of wondering what that XA jump was for. I was mostly just using it for guillotine throw. Beat Alma last night. Have to say though that the monastery section has kind of dampened my enthusiasm a little bit. Lots of boring zombie enemies
and annoying platforming bits with archers knocking you off. So far the main difficulty I've encountered has been sections like that. The only boss to cause me any real hardship was that *** on the horse in mission 2.

No problem. If you ever want any in depth info, strategies, techniques etc for all the modern NG games head over to
Ninja Archives. The NG boards are currently open to anyone to read so no need to sign up to browse through them at the moment.

7. Hey, is Ninja Gaiden like DMC in that enemies are less aggressive off camera? Lots of enemies use projectiles in this game so I'm hoping that higher difficulties don't have lots of cheap camera-induced deaths.

No, pretty much the exact opposite really, every enemy wants you dead and they often spawn offscreen then run in to attack you or just attack while offscreen. The only exception is the Mages (floating Ninja), you can prevent them launching fireballs and
fire pits by keeping them offscreen but only if you put them offscreen while they're chanting, if they finish their chant while on screen they will still attack.

Higher difficulties = more projectiles, more enemies and more offscreen attacks.

It really isn't as bad as it might seem, the game does throw a lot of crap your way but Ryu is more than capable of dealing with it. If you learn all his i-frame moves and use the environment to good effect it's much easier than you might think.

For example if Ryu is pinned with a bunch of Incendiary Shuriken they can shred your health bar in seconds but if you simply block and dash or Guillotine throw an enemy as they explode then there's little to no damage. There's tons of little tips and tricks
like that to be learned if you stick with it.

If you check the NG2 Survival topics/videos by Puregrunt on the site I linked you'll see him put tons of i-frame stuff together and stagger essence for UT chains to decimate groups of enemies, all essential to learn and well worth a watch.

10. I noticed you can exploit i-frames like that. Thing is whenever I get stuck with incendiary shurikens I just end up spamming any technique I think might have any i-frames so I haven't quite worked it out yet.

Obliteration Techniques, Essence Techniques and Ultimate Techniques all have i-frames, as do Guillotine Throw, horizontal/vertical wall runs, Wind Path A+X A (to bounce of enemies heads) and Reverse/Furious Wind do too. Some of the scrolls you picked up
tell you those moves but don't tell you about the i-frames.

Different weapons have i-frame moves, rotating LS 360° and pressing Y with most weapons gives you an i-frame window, more or less frames depending on the weapon. Scythe aerial Y attacks have loads of i-frames.

The most powerful frames though come from the Tonfa which you get in Ch7. They have a technique no other weapon has called Heavenly Justice that allows you to generate i-frames at will by tapping A or LT at any point of a combo, once you get the timing you
can HJ in and out of combos with almost 100% safety and zero recovery frames.

The game does throw some real pain your way but once can you nail all or most of the stuff above you can really start dominating fights.

12. Tonfa? Must have missed that one. Never even heard of it. Maybe it's an NG2 weapon.

Also it took me ages to work out how to do those '-> + X/Y' techniques. Now I can launch guys up in the air and Izuna Drop them with the Lunar. Awesome

Ah right you're playing NGB first, my bad. You won't find Obliterations or the Tonfa (NG2) in that game but most of the other stuff applies still. Make sure to upgrade the wooden sword as often as you can, it's pricey but it evolves into the most powerful
weapon in the game bar none.

Unlabored Flawlessness!

This thing is an absolute beast, it looks like an oar for a rowing boat and it destroys pretty much everything it touches but there is a huge caveat, it's at it's most powerful when Ryu is low on health. There are Kanji etched into it which glow as you lose
health, as each one is lit it's power grows, it's a boss killer! Here's a vid of a friend of mine destroying Doku with it.

What is the hardest game(s) that you've beaten?

(1) Ninja Gaiden for the Original Xbox (not Ninja Gaiden Black) --> This game will grind you into dust
This is the one of the few games that made me want to throw my controller though the T.V.! Lol. Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Ninja Gaiden two are AWESOME games!

Peace, J.R.

Ninja Gaiden

"Ninja Gaiden 2" is an excellent game.

"Ninja Gaiden: 3" is better than some people give it credit for but hardcore "Ninja Gaiden 2" players did not like it.

Tecmo then released "Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge" which expands the movesets, adds weapons and lets you play as Ayane and Momiji.

If you get a copy of "Ninja Gaiden 3" make sure it's "Razor's Edge".
