Nine year old son gets error code 8015D021 when he signs into his 360 live.

Bear with me I'm new here!

My nine year old son tried to sign in to his new 360 but got the error code 8015D021.

A bit of googling and it seems to be a parental control request. I need to log into XBOX live on the web with my adult account and verify that he is allowed.

I tried this but it wants a 50 cents credit card transaction to prove that I am an adult. The thing is it wants a US credit card... I am in the UK!!! So it isn't possible!!

I cannot find any guidance as to how my son can get onto Xbox live

Any advice appreciated there must be many folk outside the US with a similar problem?

Hi, I have set up a child account for my son on his Xbox 360. He can now not play as the error code 8015D021 keeps coming up.

When I try to verify his account on the website, it requires a US credit card & address to verify I'm an adult. But I cannot do this as I'm in the UK.

Any ideas how I can get my son back being able to play?

Regarding your concern, since you mentioned that you're physically located in the UK, then the $0.50 charge should not be applied to you. This is what we call COPPA. It's a policy for parent-child account links. Have you tried to link your 9 year old son's
account to an adult account like your own Microsoft Account Email for example?

I guess that it is a region thing. However I'm set to UK, so apparently is my son and so is the console so I'm a bit stuck. I found a UK microsoft help page that said:

"In some instances, you can’t change the country/region setting in the child’s account until you verify the information in the parent’s account. For example, this issue can occur if you set the country/region in the child’s account to “US”. If you can’t
change this setting in the child’s account, contact Xbox Support. You’ll need the Microsoft account email address for both the parent and the child accounts."

I did this and rang this morning and spent over an hour with a support Rep who basically got nowhere. (I thought they could have fixed it in minutes)!.... He has had to accelerate the issue to higher IT specialist.... That was after he go me to delete Matthew's
profile and then to attempt to download it back in. It wouldn't do it, giving the same error as before. I now have one very upset nine year old who has lost his profile and so can't even use his new Xbox locally!

I guess I'll just have to see what the "Specialists" can do. I hope it won't take long!

I understand that this issue is really frustrating. Just to clarify, does this mean that the previous support advised you to delete your child's account from the parent's account link then had the case get escalated?

What is going on? I have the same issue.

My 9yr old had and account with xbox live silver. i tried to log in to upgrade to gold on the pc and now her live is locked out.

I needs me to us my US credit card to verify but i am UK, she is UK and my xbox is UK.

Chat are shockingly poor and failed to even understand the issue after over an hour.

No email support either.

Xbox/ Microsoft = not impressed i'm afraid.

What is the solution - new email/ profile and lose all previous content for my child?

Any useful suggestions........ (ps4.....!)

If you are experiencing issues as you describe then it is very likely that one account was set up with a different region than you intended.

 

Yes that was the problem. In the end I rang the support line who after an hour had to escalate the case.

As soon as this happened they sorted it straight away.

I set the accounts up on the XBOX itself and don't remember being asked for a "region". next time i will set up accounts on the PC .

all sorted now. I've a happy nine year old burrowing away at minecraft and skylanders!
