480p = 640x480

720p/i = 1280x720

900p = 1440x900

1080p/i = 1920x1080

900p TVs are a bit of an unusual bunch.

Your Xbox One will output at either 720p or 1080p, depending on your Xbox settings. It does not support output at 900p. The TV should upscale 720p (Xbox output) to 900p (TV resolution), or downscale from 1080p (Xbox output).

As 900p is a resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio, you will either see black bars or a stretched screen on your 900p TV, since 720/1080 resolutions are 16:9 (standard ratio for HDTV).

And just to add that 900p is 1600x900 resolution and 720p is 1280x720. So putting your console into 720p would make games look worse, not better.

In any case, the Xbox One isn't like a PC - Xbox games all run at an native resolution internally and will use hardware scaling to get to 1080P - if said game is not already rendering at that resolution in the first place. Changing the console resolution
will have zero effect on performance.

What games are not in 1080p? I don't see why people focus so much on resolution when most of the time it's barely noticeable. And is it really that bad? Isn't it that some Xbox One games are 900p? That's not far off from 1080p. There are some Xbox One games
with 1080p resolution and I bet more that come out will also have 1080p resolution, it can sometimes take time, have some patience.

Native resolution is the key that I don't think OP understands.

If you want any game to display in its true resolution, whether it's 720p, 900p, 1080p, etc. then the source of the video signal has to match up with the native resolution of the display.

I don't recall any TV's ever having 900p? The 'original' TV displays had 480i, if memory serves. Then we had 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and now (as TV goes) we're seeing 4k.

Even the XB1 upscales and if it didn't, your TV would scale to the setting you choose (and I've never heard of 900p being a choice).

In short, you can't see a game in 900p unless the XB1 had a 900p output resolution and your TV had a 900p native resolution. Not happening, to the best of my knowledge.
