Nice from MS to let Players pay double for Elder Scrolls Online!

I know I will not be buying this game although I'm a HUGE ES fan.

Slightly off topic: Would they consider doing a remake of Morrowind? Would love to replay that on the ONE

Its simply the idea of it. Besides, say I lose XBox Live because I can't afford it for a month or two, then I lose access to it. Its not a huge deal to me because I can use it free on countless other devices, but not everyone out there has multiple ways
to access it. Im on thin ice with XBox Live anyway. I rarely play online with others. About the only exception is Battlefield 4, but that game is so busted its near unplayable most of the time. I see little incentive to keep my Gold account much longer. When
my Gold expires for me in a few weeks im likely just going to renew my Playstation Plus instead. Not only is it cheaper, but Sony gives a lot more with it. I loved my XBox and loved my XBox 360, but Microsoft just screwed up big time with XBox One.

 

Only time will tell whether ESO being stuck behind the Gold Subscription, will be detrimental to sales of that particular game on the X1. And whether or not it will affect whether or not any more MMO's come to the Microsoft cause.

If my memory serves me correctly. I believe Square said that if Microsoft put FFXI behind their paywall, they would not make the game for the 360. and keep it a PS exclusive. So Microsoft made the change for that particular game

When you have the Megaservers for X1, PS4, PC, MAC. They are all be run on individual servers. Amount of people on those servers will be monitored. And Content will be made for the servers with the most amount of player.

Think about it. When someone considers going next Gen because they want to play ESO. Are they going to go for a console that is already £80 cheaper, plus doesn't need an extra subscription to play a game than has a Monthly fee. Or the other console. Where
not only is the console dearer, You have to pay the Gold sub extra on top of the game to play it

I am in no way stating these as facts, but as subject to be discussed, and reasoned as to have Microsoft taken this things into consideration, when making the decision to wall it off.

 

Everyone has PS plus anyways, everyone who has a Playstation is always bragging up their free rental games constantly....so regardless of whether this game requires PS plus or not, we know everyone is paying for it anways....

It has been 2 months.. Smaller developer studios are still going to have to be learning the ins and the outs of the hardware and how to work with it. As I have continuously kept stating, I INVESTED in the Xbox One and the Kinect 2 for the long haul due to
the potential it has. The next gen consoles have a life expectancy of around 10 years, a LOT can still happen. Even if I have to wait til the end of that lifespan to acquire a truly excellent use of the Kinect 2, it would still be worth it. But that's just
me and everyone else who sees the potential in the Kinect 2.

But i was more referring to, if someone really wanted ESO, but held off buying a new console closer to release date. Which console do you think they would go for. The console that is cheaper, and does not need a console specific subscription. Or the console
which is already more expensive, and makes you pay a sub on top of a sub to play an MMO.

Now i am not saying someone will not buy the x1 because of these things, but it doesn't make it as appealing. Also MMO makers will look at that and think, how many customers would we lose on that format, if we have to put our sub behind another sub.

multi-hour outages on a regular basis for maintenance?

The MegaServers are being provided by Bethesda. Do you think that Bethesda will keep a Megaserver open if very few people are on the X1 version because of all the extra cash you have to spend just to play it. You are talking £110 to £120 extra, just to play
ESO

That's not cheap, that is common sense. No matter how you shake it. Yes PSN has been down. Yes i am happy being cheaper, Because currently cheaper is knocking dearer out of the window IMO. (no one else's). In the end, most people's purse strings come first.
And if you can get the same game, on same servers for £110 cheaper, where are most people going to go. It is simple mathematics, Not whether you should or should not go for the cheaper option.

And just to re-iterate, i have had hardly a problem with PSN and PS+. In fact it was down for maintenance on the 27th. And i was still playing Lego Marvel, funny that, lots of people having problems logging in and actually get certain games to play when

Absolutely agree with this. How is it MS fault for requiring Gold to be able to play this? That is all on the Dev. You want them to remove the Xbox Live Gold requirement contact them. Apparently they removed the PS+ requirement.

As for the $15 a month part, not my thing. I played this some and was not all that exited. I do know quite a few who are though and I am sure they will play it for a very long time as they love this series in general and always wanted an MMO style game.

 

@Spuds.....I don't really see ESO as a console seller....And I was just generally referring to the constant bombardment/bashing of xbox live as inferior to PS plus, the line is that their free rental games are so much better. There are so many people always
using that same tired line that I figured everyone with a playstation must have PS plus, they are always bragging up their free rentals constantly over and over again....

 

Sony said awhile ago that it was up to the game/app developer to use the ps+ services or not. I think ms should make it free for games/app like this.

 

Sorry Burnin. But i was trying to keep on topic. Bringing free games into it, was taking away from the conversation IMO.

Geurrero. How is it Bethesda that tells Microsoft to put their online game behind the Sub, it is in Bethesda's best interest to not be behind the sub, so more people have access to it?

Ultimately it is down to Microsoft, what is behind the Sub and what is not behind the Sub. It is their service.
