NHL 17 Crashing to Xbox home screen

I've been playing NHL on xbox for years and this has never happened. About 2 months ago, NHL 16 started crashing in the middle of an online head to head game and reverting to the Xbox home screen. This is counting each game as a loss. I thought maybe
the game was messed up, so I went and bought NHL 17. The same thing happened immediately. Nothing has changed concerning my network and I've tried at work and at home. I've taken all steps recommended by Xbox support and EA Games. An employee at Gamestop
recommended getting a new power brick saying that they may go bad over time, and what is happening to me, tends to happen with this. It seemed promising. New power brick came and the exact same thing happened. The only other game I play online is GTA V,
and it does not happen on that game. I've read in other forums that I'm not alone, but nobody can come up with a solution. Does anybody have an idea of what is going on here, and how to fix it?

NHL GameCenter Constantly Crashes (10/18/2014)

Update: These crashes only seem to be happening with the NHL app on Xbox One, but not Xbox 360. I've turned on my old Xbox 360 and have been able to watch that same feed just fine without the application crashing back to the home screen.

On the Xbox One the NHL App crashes back to my home screen after a couple of minutes of watching.

 

Nhl 17 screen brightness

So it seems like my problem is similar to the fifa 16 screen brightness issue but I have not found anything to resolve mine. Nhl 17 is darker in menu screens and during gameplay but the screen brightness is normal during replays. I moved back home from being
gone all summer and it worked fine on the TV during the summer. When I plugged everything back into the TV I used at home Nhl is slightly darker during gameplay. And it's the same TV before I left and never had problems. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the
game, changed hdmi ports, changed tv brightness and nothings worked. and it only effects nhl, no other games or apps.

 

Just a follow-up to this post, I've determined that the problem was my wired controller. While playing GTA, the component that the headset plugs into had fallen off in side the controller. An attempt was made to reattach it, but the headset never worked.
I began using that controller for NHL in which I don't use a headset. That's when I began having problems. On a whim, I decided one day to try the new controller I purchased for GTA on NHL, and I had no issues. Whatever was going on inside of that broken
controller was causing by game to crash. Hope this helps.
