Next gamertag release?

Did a search and didn't see my specific question answered.

Anybody know when the next set of gamertags will be released? The
change gamertag page lists a GT I want as unavailable, but searching for that GT on my
friends page says "We could not find that person. Check the gamertag and try searching again.". Similarly, going to Sign in to your Microsoft account[desired
gamertag] gives me a "page not found" error.

Any way to tell if/when this GT will be released?

Next Gamertag purge ?

GTs are released after 5 years of inactivity starting from 2016 when the rule came into play.

No one knows when the next round will be. Since the last one was so recent my thoughts are that it will be a ways off. If the tag you want is unavailable then it could be used in some other MS service. You can just keep trying back to find out if the
one you want has been released. Happy Gaming!!

Also remember that caps and spaces have e to be a exact in order to find a name

You can search for Ngoc Phi and it will say noone under that name we cannot add your friend but when you try and take it it will say it's not available because is uaed

Thanks for the responses. I don't think capital letters don't influence the search at all... That said, thanks for the tip about the spaces. Looks like that was my problem. My desired gamertag (without spaces) was last used in 2008. Oh well.

Capital letters & lower case letters are seen the same by the system so NF thesoccermom would be seen the same as NF TheSoccerMom
