newer games having loading problems

just wondering; is the quality of disks the 360 uses now lower or something?

i find it very strange; all these newer games on 2 disks., my 360 has such a problem loading.

cod ghosts, BF4, GTA 5, splinter cell blacklist.. all give me 'unrecognized disk' or 'unsupported' at some point. yet dishonored, hitman, black ops 2 work fine (my other newest games i can think prior to these. *BF3 an older 2 disk game worked fine too)

now they do eventually work.. after opening and closing a few times, they eventually are accepted (well most, i've still yet to play BF4) and once they do boot up, they play fine.

first game i noticed it with was blacklist, and i also noticed a stamp 'disk made in mexico'.. i thought they were outsourcing and maybe that was the problem. then GTA 5 gave me such a headache too (took atleast 10 tries to play. i almost gave up) with no
stamp. and now ghosts and BF4.

now i am on the first old 360.. but it plays everything else fine. just these newer 2 disk games give headaches.

i thought the laser might be dirty.. but as mentioned; older games boot no problem. it's just these new top releases.

what gives? what's different about them?

i know i'll likely get "it's my old xbox".. but why does every other game work flawless?

Preowned games?

A used game plays just as a new game there are no negatives, aside from the disc maybe being scratched and having problems loading

Having problems loading games from disc gets so far into the loading then come up installation stopped any help please

this doesn't seem that rare.. searching, i'm seeing a few people having problems with these newer games (and only newer games) while older ones work fine.

very aggravating microsoft. was happy i avoided the dreaded red rings.. but now i can't play new games..

oh what a great console you built. makes me confident to jump into xbox one.

..i guess i should be asking what's different about these newer games? why they wont work on older xboxs.. seems so hokey to me.

 

Chances are you have one of the rare instances where the firmware on your DVD drive did not get upgraded to support the new disc format Microsoft introduced a few years ago. This updated format allows more storage on disc, basically giving the developers
almost a whole GB of extra space on the DVD. This was part of a normal system update, but there are a few rare instances where somer of the DVD drives in some of the original consoles did not take the update and cannot play discs which use the newer format.

Unfortunately since your system is well out of warranty and that update happened several years ago, I doubt there is anything Microsoft can do for you. To play newer games that use the new format, you will probably need to buy a newer Xbox console.
